Obviously SOMEBODY hasn't been listening to Rod Yates and the Omaha Prairie Hawks NHL expansion team and NIL farm.

Would love to see this happen, but IMO reality seems to side with that not being the case.

Although I did forget about the Yates factor - he might already be in talks with a combo package of NHL/MLB in the same venue. Will be the first team that is comprised of the same players, but they play both sports.

Dude, is that Sim City? Is there a somewhat current version of this? I may have to hop on that train for a bit - although I do miss the simple blinking squares of Residential, Commercial, etc. 🤣

Looks like SimCity 3000. Haven't played that in decades. SimCity 4 is my favorite and I still play it to this day.

Yates stadium is reported to hold 250,000 people. It's going to have a NFL team, NHL team, NBA team, and MLB team with new retractable dome technology. It will also host Monster trucks and NASCAR and be the headquaters of the International Olympics Committee. There will be a full Disney theme park and waterslides for the kids along with upscale housing and a walkable city scape so you can live and work all in one place.

Can't believe you forgot to mention that the Disney rides will also serve as a transit system. Gotta bring a raincoat to work if you happen to live off a log flume line though.

Has there ever been any plans to develop lot C? This is the skinny lot just East of the stadium. I can't imagine they can go over 2 stories or you will have homeruns coming in your window.

Being that area is used for the CWS fan zone, I highly doubt it.

The fan zone uses the south half. ESPN takes over the north half and they basically set up a miniature city back in there for all the staff. They even have their own ESPN only entrance down there.

If it becomes pop up tent city during the CWS, maybe they can create a flex space that mimics that. It would be nice to create a plaza or pocket park that could be used year round.

I'm picturing 20+ single pergula/gazebo like structures with seating. Great for picnics or CWS fan zone/ESPN.

I have saw that Charles Schwab field is expandable to 35,000. How would that be accomplished? Is the structure designed to support a third deck?

I've always just assumed they would slap a deck on the open concrete concourse.

I thought I heard on time it would go above the concession stands in left field.

both left and right field stands from the suites to the foul poles (200 level) have open exposed beams that go nowhere reaching towards the sky. I believe that would be one way. I don't think they'd want to cover the view of the BoB or the skyline by adding a deck in left or right field in fair territory.

I like Brodie's videos and analysis. He's been pretty jaded on the state of sports since the A's left and he lost his job. I can't blame him. He's pretty much doing nothing but covering the business side of the sports, new stadiums, and relocation now.

I'm surprised it didn't dawn on him and he didn't mention the KC Royals connection. He briefly mentions the AAA team and just says, "they play in another stadium", but he makes no mention that this is a KC Royals territorial market and they'd essentially have to waive that claim and give up Omaha forever to make a team work here permanently. That will never happen, and I don't think Omaha is a big enough media market anyway.

It might be something KC would allow for 1-2 years, but they'll never give up their rights permanently. It's why, as some note, they don't believe the Storm Chasers are in any real danger of leaving here despite terrible attendance. If KC gives this up as a AAA market, it could be seen as them ceding the market entirely and Omaha could look for other options with a shiny stadium downtown.

All of this isn't much different than what the A's faced when they wanted to move to Fremont and the Giants wouldn't cede the territory (a territory the A's gave the giants at one point) The only difference is the miles between Omaha and KC compared to San Fran to Fremont. Same principle though.

Most of his other points, good and bad, are spot on though.

From ESPN: Where the Rays' future in Tampa Bay and stadium deal stands

Omaha is only mentioned in passing here. The article focuses more on the difficulties of financing a new stadium in the Tampa area. The team owner has said relocating the team is not off the table. While no one would expect Omaha to be a contender for a relocation city I do wonder if they played the 2026 season here if that would help the Rays as leverage for securing a new stadium deal in Tampa. The fact that Omaha is so far away could be a taste of what losing the team out of state would be like should they potentially move to one of the more obvious contender cities such as Nashville, Austin, Charlotte, Salt Lake, and etc. As unlikely as I think even securing the Rays at The Chuck for a season would be, I hope MECA is willing to roll out the red carpet for even a series of games. That would still be a win for MECA and Omaha.
"It's just a rendering."

Thats awesome, this year CHI is getting all new video boards as well and then next year Charles Schwab Field. Love how Omaha and MECA continue to ensure that these facilities remain top notch. A lot of places get facilities like this and don't do any upgrades for 20 years or more. CHI is going to have their 3rd scoreboard in 22 years and baseball 2nd in 15 years.

It makes zero sense that they aren’t adding a second scoreboard. The bones of the stadium are great but as far as for aesthetics and fan experience there is a lot to be desired.

yes, I agree. Where would the second scoreboard go, on the left field side? I am assuming that the new video board is going to be the same size as the current one.

The left field side looks like it has the bones for it. the one on the RF side is weird as you have to crane your neck to look at it for anyone on the 1b side of home plate. I agree. should have added a 2nd scoreboard.

Ribbon panels were needed too. seems like something that was pulled initially bc of budget, I'd guess. looked weird with the fabric panels up during cws.

I was reading this article that the creators of the Las Vegas Sphere want to make mini-spheres for other cities. Trying cut down costs so others could enjoy the immersive experience.

Ummm...Let's put one in Lot D! This way you can sit in the baseball stadium and have a giant eyeball looking at you. LOL!
All jokes aside, it would be a great attraction next to the convention center if Omaha wanted to spend the money.

They are adding a scoreboard to the left field - Ribbons then the scoreboard in the frame that matches the same that holds the first scoreboard.

When did the second scoreboard get added? The KETV article linked above, a few post above yours said they’re adding ribbon boards and replacing the current scoreboard, but it doesn’t say anything about a new one in left field?

It’s here through 2027. I don’t see it moving after that either. Provides a nice boost to that area before the CWS.
