Makes sense. A few years ago, most new skyscrapers were office buildings. These days, every city with a major high-rise boom (ex. Nashville) seems to get a large amount of residentials. I guess it's just the world changing over time.
New York is still getting a lot of office buildings. The top tier office market is still strong, it’s really just the class B and C markets that are struggling
That's true!

Was their an announcement or news of a delay? I haven’t heard of one…

Ciao..LiO…Peace
I'm guessing they mean due to the holidays. I could see that delaying them raising the core up.
Yeah, I meant to say delayed to the holidays. I'd assume workers would be given Christmas off, thus delaying construction a few days.

The tower elevator shaft is going up another floor today.
They continue to assembly a steel structure on the ground that I believe will make up part of the first floor above the parking structure. I'm only guessing but wonder if assembling module portions of the structure steel on the ground, lifting them in to place is more efficient then hauling all the steel up, piece by piece. Obviously, the size of module constructed steel sections is limited by weight. (. Also, I'm only speculating and could be completely full of S$tt.)

Good call, would have been nice to have another building that height on the skyline.

Mutual is now visible from 72nd and West Center Road!

I would think another 2 floors or so and they will need to raise it. Eventually it is going to be 750 ft high. Last time they raised it 100 ft to the current 450 ft height.

Edit: actually looking at the difference in the crane vs the core last time they raised it, I wouldn't be surprised if it would be in the next 2-3 weeks.

Its obviously been cool to see go up the whole time, but the recent couple floors has definitely reignited my excitement. Really starting to take over the skyline now and it is becoming visible from more angles.

I'm with you on this. I'd think we'll se a crane extension between 1/15 and 1/30. If they push it another 100 feet - to 550, it'll be about 70 feet taller than Woodmen Life.

Spring and summer will be fun with visibly impressive milestones.

Thanks for the comment on yesterday's photo.

So here is an east and west comparison getting back to what I posted a couple months ago about the height from different perspectives. From the East, Mutual already dwarfs the woodman and from the West, Woodman still looks fairly tall.

OWH had a story about the Mutual building, but nothing really new other than saying that the first garage "skin" panels will arrive on site this winter, around springtime structural steel should start going up. And in early summer glass and windows will start being installed.

The only other thing to point out is the blue crane will start coming down after the windows have started to be installed.

It's right here in the latest video. Is it still there or did they slide it up to the top?

It's "still there". They keep it parked just above the last tie-off to the tower.

Yeah, sorry I thought you were referring to the one on the blue crane ( I believe there is one there as well) but for the yellow crane, that has been there since they last raised it.

I thought it was just 10 floors of parking garage... but as I count, isn't that in the 15 floor range (if I didn't skip or accidently add one)? I'm hoping that the parking garage floors will not be the same size as the regular floors, but if they are, that would mean 15 floors of parking is 1/3 of the building.

Typically office floors will be taller than parking garage floors.

I’ve been thinking about the size of this parking garage, and I’m wondering…
How long will the line of cars stretch to enter the garage every morning? And how long will MoO employees have to wait to exit every day?

It will be a pain to park in the tower for most of the employees working there….so why spend so much money building the tallest parking structure in the state?

I guess Mutual of Omaha should have bought several blocks of old brick buildings around there, tore them all down, and replaced them with big, beautiful, surface parking lots.
