CMCE = 2.5" Snow (rain equivalent of 0.3")
I guess this all depends on the precise location they are using for their prediction. Is it Eppley? The NWS west of Valley? Midtown?
Snow depths can vary by 4” or more in a typical snowfall just between Valley and Plattsmouth or CB.

Looks like we will get at least a couple inches. And Saturday looks like a possibility for more snow. We seem to be breaking out of our dry and mild pattern we had been stuck in basically all winter. Going to get gas for the snowblower.
Actually January came in colder than the 30 year average. December was warmer and February will almost certainly turn out significantly colder than average.
Looks like with the moisture and temps topping out in the teens and generally riding along in the single digits, it's going to be that bone chilling type of cold.

I start my snow blower once a month year-round as well as the lawn mower. First of the month, I have this done in a day or two. Run for 15 Min or so and save a lot of problems and headaches when I need it and keep the carbs from guming up.

It's fine, it started after a little priming.

My snowblower started right up, I used it once last winter and I ran it in the spring to burn off the excess gas. It’s probably 35-40 years old. Glad it still works.
I would say about 2.5 to 3 inches in SW Omaha. Area of W. Center rd just west of I-680. A little less than I thought we would get. It’s a very light powdery snow, easy to shovel. This is the latest I recall getting at least 2 inches of snow since I’ve lived here, that’s going back to the mid 80’s. It’s a pretty snow, a nice change from all the brown landscape .

Yeah, I'm at almost 3 inches again here. This snow is stacking up a lot faster than what we saw last week.

Yeah, looks like the heavier band ended up setting up right over Omaha this time (as opposed to being south of town) so we ended up getting more than expected. Light/fluffy stuff due to the cold air so it accumulates faster (since it doesn't compress down like it does when it's heavier/wet snow). The second round expected tonight/tomorrow should mostly stay to our south though still...hopefully anyway.

Really easy snow to shovel or snow blow. Was out last evening got the driveway cleared in no time. Probably got about 4 inches throughout the day. Can’t wait till temps warm up Friday and Saturday and nextweek looks pretty good for late Feb.
9 below this morning. What I find interesting is that we are colder this morning than cities north of us like Sioux Falls and Minneapolis. You don’t see that very often. This has been a brutal stretch which pretty much started last Saturday and went on for 6 straight days. Today for the first time since Saturday we should get above 20 and then the massive warmup starts tomorrow.
This usually happens every year, we just got spoiled with an otherwise warm winter. Looks like we're gonna be equally spoiled coming up. It's almost March, I'd say there isn't much opportunity left for cold and uncomfortable weather. Not that it won't happen, just not a lot of time left.

Ha, a few years ago, I went camping the first week of April and it got down to like 11 or so.... Winter isn't done yet...
I mean outrageously cold. 11 for a low isn't bad if it gets up above freezing during the day. Now, im talking cold like we just had, with highs below zero and lows well into the negative-double-digits. That is what I think the door is closing on. Just look at the forecast that takes us to meteorological spring (March). 50s almost every day. I didn't say it wouldn't snow again, as often we get a late March, mid April dumping, and our last freeze is typically right at the end of the second week of April. With how warm our winter was otherwise, it'll be interesting to see how that holds up.
January temps were below the 20th century avg. February isn't over yet, but even with the warm up it will still be below average temps. Though the precip. hasn't been here, the cold sure has. This comes from the UNL climate summary, they also loosely associate this years widespread influenza to the increased number of polar vortex we have had. Something to think about!
What am I missing then? Cause last I checked, outside of maybe two full weeks since October has it been truly bitterly cold. Was it THAT cold during those short periods that it brought the overall average down that much? I'd be interested to know what the rest of the winter weather comes out to, minus the cold periods. I know im not making this up, I mean it practically did not snow until just a couple weeks ago and most of the time I've been comfortable going out with just a jacket.

Idk man it was pretty damn cold consistently the last 2 months. I’m not trying to argue with your perceptions though, I can only state the facts. The entire continental US had below avg temps.
February definitely sucked. But looks like we're back up to what I was considering a warm winter. I mean, were looking at upper 50s to round out February. Is that not warm for February? We had quite a few above average days in both December and January, with some of those days well above average, and even a record high of 61 that one day in late January. December was above average in both high and low temp and January was above in high temp. It never seemed bad to me because I like it cold, and it didn't snow until a couple weeks ago. It really was only truly bitterly cold for that one week or so, and like I said, look at the upcoming forecast. February is probably gonna bring the whole winter average down, but December and January were both above average.
