He was a big part of why Central got termed I Back High. Obviously early on you had Gale Sayers, but the run in the 80's to 90's was incredible:

Keith "Endzone" Jones
Bernard Jackson
Leodis Flowers
Calvin Jones
Ahman Green
David Horne

All but Bernard Jackson (I think size hurt him) went on to play I Back at Nebraska.

That's sad, apparently she had just gotten a liver transplant, I assume there were complications as the body can reject it.

Re: RIP Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa :(

Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa, were found dead in their Home. He was 95, and she was 63.

I don't see many details yet on the cause, but some local reports say no foul play is expected.
The dog was also dead. With this, it makes me wonder if it was something like carbon monoxide poisoning.

I saw Gene Hackman in some little slideshow on social media a while back titled something like "Celebrities You Thought Were Dead But Are Still Alive." I'm guessing because he hadn't acted in over 20 years and was in his 90s.

I'm with nebugeater and am guessing cause of death was probably carbon monoxide. While tragic, it would certainly be better than something more sinister.

Oddly, guess what movie he went out on. That is, guess what his final role was. Welcome to Mooseport

A few of my Favorite movies with Hackman are Hoosiers, Mississippi Burning, The Firm, and Crimson Tide. Might have to see if I can find time this weekend to watch something he was in.

I just read that they suspected the same thing we did, of course, so they had the air in the home tested to make sure it was safe for first responders and investigators. No gases detected. So, I guess we get to wait on the investigation.

I read an official news report a little bit ago that said there was no indication of gas leaks. Also, they said they died in different rooms. In addition, the search warrant documents indicated a bunch of spilled pills where she passed. Two other dogs were alive: one inside and one outside.

I have a feeling this might get strange.

NYT reporting that pills were scattered around his wife's body. Doesn't explain the dog, but this is really becoming a weird story.

Maybe he died and she decided to join him? Only plausible scenario I can imagine.

Sounds like they were dead for as long as a couple weeks, and the dead dog was in a kennel so that explains that one a bit more.
