You should check it out in person. The Riverfront Park was an old industrial dump and a Missouri Pacific Rail yard. Does not feel nearly as bad as you would think and there is a lot of development down there.

The KC riverfront park, is similar to that of the northern CB river side. Pretty to look at but not functional few incentives to go there. Yet CB northern side is connected to rivers edge and to the Omaha riverfront and marina, no cars needed or going through industrial areas needed.

The KB riverfront park is practically an island surounded by industrial parks on both sides.

Sure you can try to hide industrial buildings with foliage from certain angles but it still doesn't remove the fact that the pedestrian would still have to see and travel through these areas to get to these development and park islands.

There is a riverfront trail that connects it to downtown + building streetcar connection + building a direct walking & cycling bridge. There is also a new renovated casino under construction, womans soccer stadium, and beer garden adding to the existing activity centers (Bar-K, Park, Volleyball Center, and outdoor gym).

Cordish Companies is now pursuing a 5 acre development at the riverfront, directly south of the KC Current Soccer Stadium. Cordish won an RFP issued by Port KC for the site. The RFP specified that the plan should include one or more among several components — at least 350 apartments; 10,000 square feet of retail, such as food, beverage and entertainment venue space; 100,000 square feet of office; and 200 boutique hotel rooms. The chosen uses could be built above, wrapped around or adjacent to the garage, which is required to start with 1,000 spaces for year-round public use.
Once the commercial components get built, the garage would be expanded to have at least 1,500 spaces. The developer would be permitted to charge regular and event rates for garage parking, with an expectation that revenue-sharing terms would be negotiated with Port KC.

The Kansas City Current have sold out of season tickets for their inaugural season at CPKC Stadium, the club announced Tuesday.

The Current said fans hoping to attend games next season will still have a chance to purchase tickets byjoining a waitlist through the team's Current Club.

“This is another exciting moment for our club and the amazing fans in Kansas City,” Angie Long, Current co-founder and co-owner, said in a press release. “It validates, again, the rewards of investing in women’s sports. We cannot wait to open this beautiful riverfront stadium and bring the world class experience and sold-out crowd to our city.”

The Current said fans can get access to 2,000 seats available for single matches, group sales and other tickets packages through the waitlist.

“We expected to be sold out for the opening season at CPKC Stadium because of the support and passion that fans in Kansas City have for soccer,” Dan Boyd, Current vice president of ticketing and sales, said in a press release. “We’ve seen season ticket growth trends increase 135 percent since 2022. We knew our product would lead to an environment that cultivates an electric atmosphere, giving the city, the fans and the players what they want, and more importantly, what they deserve.”

The Current also announced Tuesday it will serve a Teal Rising Pilsner from Boulevard Brewing Company at the new stadium, which is the first purpose-built for a women's professional team.

That does look nice, but I would much rather prefer a lake over a river any day.

We do have the riverfront place condos that have been there for a decade or more.

yeah i thought of that too. But the only problem is that they feel like they are secluded, even though they are right there. I like the feel of activity the rendering represents...but we all know how plans vs reality can be. Our riverfront is vibrant, but if i were in a position of being able to do so, it'd be cool to walk out by the river and see the pedestrian bridge and the river and stuff.

One local even mentioned that there aren't enough parking lots. Another comment on this area, being bottlenecked with traffic, and that the roads in this area do not have the capacity to sustain the traffic congestion from this new development. Especially because this previous Sunday there was a bottleneck in this area.

The streetcar will be extended but will it be enough to deal with the many residents that prefer the car, since this area is more like an island surrounded by noisy highways and overpasses?

This is not a flood plain. There is a levy and the land behind the levy was backfilled above the elevation of the levy. Site is at a higher elevation than even the West Bottoms levies. West Bottoms, Parkville, Riverside, etc. would be wiped out before this site is.

They are building a train and pedestrian/bike bridge. A few hundred cyclists already attend each game and this is expected to grow. There are structured garages and surface lots on the other side of the interstate too. The Current has been offering free shuttles and other transit. From parking lots around downtown. Its up to guests to use these free services. Its not been an issue for anyone who is willing to walk more than 5 feet.

Another comment on this area, being bottlenecked with traffic, and that the roads in this area do not have the capacity to sustain the traffic congestion from this new development. Especially because this previous Sunday there was a bottleneck in this area.

The Parkway is a 4 lanes stroad that feeds straight into downtown and the interstate. there will be traffic right when people leave a game. This road is already overbuilt for the other 99.9% of the year. The mixed-use development will provide for post-game activities slowing the post game rush down, further reducing the need for a 4 lane stroad.

Citizens who prefer a suburban lifestyle are not moving here.

Really hoping to get to that stadium this year. The rail line will get a ton of use there since parking can be somewhat limited.

Roughly yes. The “new smaller stadium” will be adjacent to KC Current’s existing training facility in Riverside. Both are in the same river bottoms area that Live Nation and a few million sqft of warehouses are going up at.

I visited Two Birds One Stone the other day. It's advertised as a beer garden. I don't know the exact definition of a beer garden, but it did not fit my definition. Not a very good food selection and the beers were pricey. Some beers were $12 and higher. I'll stick with River Bluff and Strange Days.
