The Ewing Administration

Post by OmahaFan »

Time to start the thread before he gets sworn in. Has anyone heard who he has chosen for his staff and who would lead the Omaha Fire and Omaha Police Departments? I’m curious who he will pick to lead the Omaha Public works department because he seems dead set on improving road infrastructure in Omaha and possibly reversing Stotherts policy on roads that don’t meets the City of Omaha standards.

I’m also curious if he will proceed with the construction of a new Omaha police and Omaha Fire Department combined Headquaters I’m a little surprised that project hasn’t been started under Stothert.

I’m surprised but also impressed that Ewing is keeping most of Stothert’s staff after meeting with them all.

A good skill is to know what you don't know. Hopefully this means that the velocity of development projects will continue.

Agreed, and also have a slow down after the transition.

He was quoted saying “One of the things I fundamentally believe is that government should be a stabilizing force to help people be able to live their best lives,” he said. “I think it’s important that our people in Omaha see stability and continuity and certainty.”

That is a good statement. When you have complete turnover that can create issues.

Considering the budget for the year is largely set and he’s taking office half way through the year this sounds sensible…

as does Ewing thankfully.

The kind of lunacy that we would’ve expected from McDonnell obstinately grinding the gears to a halt, á la the streetcar.

Nebraska Examiner article says that Ewing said he has been contacted by companies interested in relocating to Omaha.

And with that, Omaha has a new mayor. Ewing's speech starts at the 13 minute mark, though it cuts out early
