Little Sioux Scout Ranch may have new owners by end of January
LITTLE SIOUX, Iowa (KCAU) — A scout camp that has welcomed Siouxland youth for five decades is changing hands. The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation was set to purchase the Little Sioux Scout Ranch by the end of 2022. With dwindling scout visitors, the Mid-American Council of the Boy Scouts of America approached the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation for them to purchase the roughly 2,000 acres of land.

Former Little Sioux Scout Ranch transferred to Loess Hills State Forest
This should be great news that it is going to open to the public. I remember going there prob almost 30 years ago in scouts and there were some really nice trails and lake too.The foundation is now transferring the former Little Sioux Scout Ranch to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, according to a press release. The 1,776-acre property would be added to the Loess Hills State Forest.
"The site offers numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation such as hiking, birdwatching, wilderness camping, fishing and hunting," according to a press release. "The property has dozens of miles of established trails that will link to the surrounding state forest and a 20-acre lake with excellent fishing."
With the transfer to the Iowa DNR, the area will be open to the public after boundary signs are installed in late June. A public celebration is tentatively planned for Friday, Sept. 26.

I heard that they're tearing down the storm shelters that were built after the tornado killed 4 Scouts in 2008.
