24-Hour Full Service Restaurants?

What are all of the 24-hour full-service restaurants in the Omaha area?

The only one I can think of is the Denny's at Flying J in Gretna. There used to be several, but COVID-19 put an end to many of them staying open all night.

There's a post about this on Reddit from 9 years ago. It's interesting how it's changed, but mostly from Covid and rising prices and costs of employment. I'd imagine that a lot of 24 hour places figured it'd not worth it to pay someone to work overnight with very little business to offset their pay.

IHOP was mentioned along with some others that stay up late like Lighthouse Pizza, Niteowl, and Amsterdam Falafel. It looks like Abelardos has one location on N 90th that is 24 hours, but I'm sure that's hit and miss like some of the other location's hours.

Unless things have changed at that Denny's since I last tried it some time ago at Flying J, it is a stretch to call it a restaurant.

Perkins is 24 hour, though the only in town right now is by Eppley.

Also, the Rivers Edge Cafe at Prairie Flower Casino lists an overnight menu, but it’s only a choice between two cold sandwiches, or two salads.

I believe the cafe at the east end of War Horse casino is 24 hours. There are tables, but its order at the counter.

I would be happy if more full service places just managed to stay open until Midnight.

Perkins is 24 hour, though the only in town right now is by Eppley.

I had thought that Perkins disappeared after their 2019 bankruptcy. But now that I look it up, I find that there are still over 250 Perkins locations!

I was gonna say that same thing. Back in my day, I'd go to Walmart at 2am. For me now, its a mad dash to get my shopping done by 11, or I just miss it altogether. Not to mention, apparently everybody else is in the same boat, because the lines toward closing time S U C K.

Same. Going to the Hy-Vee at 180th & Q at like 1:00 AM on a weeknight was a bit of a tradition of mine. They did night stocking, so I guess they figured since there were several employees there anyway they might as well be open and teach a few night stockers how to work the register. They would lock one set of doors though.

One would assume the restaurants attached to truck stops would be 24-hours, but not anymore. The Denny's at Flying J in Gretna, as previously stated, is open 24-hours. However the Coffee Kettle Cafe at Sapp Bros near Chalco closes at 8:00 PM and the Apple Barrel Restaurant at Sapp Bros in Council Bluffs closes at 9:00 PM.

Back in the day the Smoke Pit was open late if not all night. I'll never forget in high school between 11 and 2 in the morning it was a half dozen Central High kids, cops, pimps & hookers. The food was amazing and the conversation was to say the least interesting. Downtown & near downtown in the mid 70s was a whole different vibe.

I almost forgot. We also went to Skeets BBQ. I'd give anything for their sauce.

I couldn't not share this cause its hilarious. For Halloween one year as kids, my brother dressed up as a "night stalker" for a costume contest. He had like an old grocery worker's apron with blood on it and carried a big knife. As a young boy, I didn't understand the play on words (and BTW, you could never get away with that costume nowadays, no fun). But fast-forward to me looking for my first job, I applied for night stocker at No-Frills. The only night stocker I knew was "night stalker", and I didnt even know what the job entailed. This was back in the day of paper applications where you had to fill in what position you were applying for, and I wrote in "night stalker". Needless to say, I did not get that job lol
