Good News (not really). The Sinclair station that was next Popeye's closed and will be replaced by........Mega Mart. Such a depressing thought.

Seriously?! Just what the city needs... another crappy gas station that might open a car wash, then close the car wash... and sell you pre-paid cell phones while getting your smokes.OmaJayhawk wrote: Wed Aug 18, 2021 9:42 am Good News (not really). May as well open a dollar store - same concept (without fuel).

When I was a kid, it was a drive through liquor store. So the more things change, the more they stay the samedjc311 wrote: Tue Aug 24, 2021 10:31 amSeriously?! The drive through liquor store where Popeyes is now was far more entertaining than the Popeyes.

That's too bad! It was Paul's Sinclair. That's where I always go (make that past tense, went) for car repair. It was an old fashioned service station with real mechanics and they always did a good job. I always got the impression that the guys there loved their job, and when they got off work, they would go home and play around with cars just like they did at work.OmaJayhawk wrote: Wed Aug 18, 2021 9:42 amGood News (not really). Anybody know what is going on at Millard Avenue near the intersection with 132nd, L, and Industrial? Big mounds of dirt there.

Do we really need a Mega Saver on every corner in Nebraska? Seriously?

Re: Construction Site
Do we really need to continually hate on Mega Saver so much? They’ve at least gotten rid off all their delta-8 and thc stuff, and their newest locations actually look pretty good. I barely notice the one at 72nd & Dodge unless I’m looking for it.ThreeGGG wrote: Sat Aug 23, 2025 4:30 pm Do we really need a Mega Saver on every corner in Nebraska? Seriously?

The MS's I have been in recently, admittedly not a lot, have been fine.

There was no "hate" intended towards Mega Saver, on my part. Just a simple observation in a public forum.

Re: Construction Site
I'll give em, they have obviously put forth an effort to come off as a more legitimate business. But still, I can't shake that they're a drive thru smokes shop that sells burner phones, liquor, and watered down gas. They made their bed, and they know their clients, and are successful in it. Says a lot. I don't personally like them, or care to see them flood the area, but it is what it is. When a MegaSaver comes into your area, you know what kind of people its going to attract.nebugeater wrote: Sun Aug 24, 2025 7:14 amPeople need to just shift the MS hate to Cracker BarrellNosebot wrote: Sat Aug 23, 2025 10:03 pmThis forum wouldn't be recognizable without mega saver being the butt of every jokeEricHaley wrote: Sat Aug 23, 2025 6:58 pm Do we really need to continually hate on Mega Saver so much? Re: Dairy Queen - Former Sinclair (13205 Millard Ave)
Just looked at the Building Permits. The former Sinclair will now be a new Dairy Queen.
The property sold on 3/4/2025 and a building permit was issued for a new Dairy Queen on 05/23/2025.

Re: Dairy Queen - Former Sinclair (13205 Millard Ave)
So no MEGA SAVER? It's a total disaster at the moment with dirt piled up about 12-15' high all around the entire lot. I'm assuming this is to remove old tanks? I thought this would have been done awhile ago (and was actually thinking they were going to be installing new tanks).Brad wrote: Sun Aug 24, 2025 7:01 pm Just looked at the Building Permits. The DQ that's off Millard Ave I'm assuming will close down. That one will be best known for being in About Schmidt. I kinda liked going through the drive thru at that store because it was pretty easy to navigate. This new location is definitely not in the best spot.

Re: Dairy Queen - Former Sinclair (13205 Millard Ave)
In summertime, more often than not, there was a line in both directions of 136th Street, essentially blocking through traffic. I can imagine what Millard Avenue will look like once DQ opens.djc311 wrote: Mon Aug 25, 2025 8:51 amSo no MEGA SAVER? Right? I don't see a way they can set that location up to not create traffic havoc. The one at 173rd & Center by Husker Hounds is always backed up to the main drive area and extends past the first entrance to the PepperJax parking lot.damonhynes wrote: Mon Aug 25, 2025 7:27 pmIn summertime, more often than not, there was a line in both directions of 136th Street, essentially blocking through traffic. What's odd is the corner just to the south of where this new DQ will go seems to be the home to a lot of car accidents. I'm not sure why, other than it doesn't have a light. If you turn west up the hill, it goes into residential and turning east would take you to Wells Fargo or Popeye's. Perhaps it's just poorly designed. I do know many people that come south down Millard Ave seem to not understand there's a dedicated center turn lane to go east, so they try and turn from the inside southbound lane. Maybe that's the main hiccup in that area.

Re: Dairy Queen - Former Sinclair (13205 Millard Ave)
This DQ should be different than the 173rd DQ. The "problem" with the DQ on 173rd is that the driveway doesn't connect to a public road, 173rd Court is a private road owned by the shopping center. The City of Omaha code states that there must be 200 feet from the drive through window to a Public Right of Way. But since 173rd Court isn't public, they don't have to meet that. The new DQ has public streets so it will need to meet that 200'.djc311 wrote: Tue Aug 26, 2025 9:35 am Right? I don't see a way they can set that location up to not create traffic havoc. Also if it meets city code, it should only have 1 driveway, not two. Just a guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if that driveway is on 132nd street and not Millard Ave.

Weeds are tall on the huge pile of dirt and there is a for sale sign.
