They sure got away with one. Yes a win is a win but I'm here like

I hate picking the whole corn field to find a good ear, but ONE positive. No turnovers.

Not thrilled to see next week's game is a 6:30 start. I dont know what happened to me, but as I get older, I just don't like waiting around all day, nor do I like staying up late to watch it. Last nights game went til 11:30. 8pm is a crazy late start time.

Used to watch Sunday Night Football every week at the bar. Now my favorite start time is 2:30. Over around dark and gives me time to drink my sorrows away

and still get to bed at a decent time.

11 is a little early. Ideally, and I guess this is why I prefer the NFL, is the noon games.

I still prefer college football over the NFL. It seems more exciting to watch.

They’re both great (College Football and NFL Football)- they’re just different. I enjoy both- equally..

Now college basketball vs NBA Basketball circa 2025, I prefer college basketball BY FAR over the NBA. College basketball is the superior product..

Don’t feel the same way about football..as clearly, the NFL is the superior product. IMO at least. Although (again), I enjoy both equally…

The thing about college football is for me, at least, it lost its charm. They used to play for the honor of the school, now it feels like they just play for a "bag", as the kids call it. And they can bounce the scene whenever they feel like it. Some of them now make enough money, they could just retire two years into college and call it a wrap. And now they're trying to water it down even more with an even bigger playoff.

I'll watch every NFL game we get on the tube on Sundays, but the Huskers are the only game I will watch on Saturdays. It's just that all the guys in the NFL are the best of the best.

College football used to have a lot more heart to it. IMO, if they're gonna play their cards like its just a NFL proving ground, then I prefer to just watch the real deal.

I totally get, and agree with the playoff as it was. But for me at least, there was more to prove back in the days of the polls. If you wanted to win, you had to win every game, every week, and as handsomely as possible, so it felt like every play had a bigger purpose. Now the way theyre talking, they could have 3 or 4 loss teams in the playoff, playing practically meaningless play-in games, trying to create the same old Cinderella storyline as Basketball. I'm not interested.

Funny to hear all the husker fans cry after a win. Its not 1997. Your team would have lost that game the past several seasons. I'd say it was a good improvement over recent history.

I'm not crying at least. I dont know who would be after a win. But if you are into football, it certainly wasn't an inspiring performance.

I hate to say it, I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but I even thought during the game "this is another 5-7 team". I really hope I'm dead wrong. I really didn't like what I saw, and really, they were lucky to get away with the win.

I really hope to see them steadily improve throughout the season. They've got a LOT of room to do so.

After watching the game Thursday, the Huskers look like at best a 7 win team this year. The highlight of the game for Nebraska was zero turnovers. So far the QB does not look like a 5 star recruit to me, maybe 3 or 4. Nebraska is like the Chicago Bears, they both have a hard time developing Quarterbacks.

Those zero turnovers are probably the highlight of the game. If they can manage not to shoot themselves in the foot all season, that'll go a long way. Thing is, after the game, I felt they didn't show me any identity, so at this point, it's hard for me to say I see a difference. If there's anything I can say with certainty, that was the most boring Husker game I think I've ever seen. I hope that was by design, cause that formula they went out with isn’t gonna win them many of the meaningful games.

That should get them to 3-0 at least.

That does say a lot. With that behind us (barely) I don't really count the next two games for how happy I'm gonna be with the season (god forbid they lose either one).

I don't get excited about winning three freebies to get halfway to bowl eligibility.

What really matters to me is the nine conference games. Looking at the schedule, I'm hopeful they can go 7-2 in those games, but not optimistic. That would be a great jump. I would be satisfied if they can go 4-5, making for a 7-5 season. But I won't put 10-2 off the table til I see how they bode against the other Big10 bottom feeders.

I agree, thats a really realistic expectation, and thats probably the tipping point which Rhule is judged on. Get 7-5 or 8-4, he's safe, but ya want more. 6-6 is disappointing.

It may not have anything to do with Nebraska, but Ohio State beat #1 Texas 14-7. Personally, I don't think Texas should've been ranked #1 to begin with.

I think it's safe to assume Penn State will be #1 after today. They're dismantling Nevada 39-3.

UPDATE: Penn State just won 46-11. Nevada scored a touchdown at the very end and went for 2. But by then, it was too little, too late.

I have the Alabama - Florida State on in the background just doing things around the house, and the announcer is SO ANNOYING. FSU is up 14 with like 3 minutes to go and dude is exclaiming like some otherworldly play happened, so I peek over to see what happened. It was just a plain old first down run. Its a two score game, brother, no need to poop your pants over a first down. Alabama is going to lose. BIG DEAL.

Regardless of what people think about early season rankings, they exist. When #3 beats #1, #3 becomes #1. All Penn St. did was beat a cupcake.

Yeah, I was thinking Ohio State would be #1. Not that it matters. Really not sure why they had Texas at #1 anyway. Thats why the early season ratings are bogus. Just a way to sell games.

Honestly, if I was Texas, I'd be kinda PO'd by being #1, cause Ohio State probably felt snubbed, and that put a chip on their shoulder, I can imagine.

Hope not. Yet another reason I dont like the college rules. OT sucks. Hasn't treated us well in any way.

I always think back to that one game between two teams I can't recall, but they were tied at 30 something, and the final score ended up being 72-something. Ridiculous.

MLB is superior. But I enjoy watching the CWS and college baseball more these days..

Like NBA, I used to watch MLB quite a lot back in the 1980’s and 1990’s..but over the last 15 years, the sport just fell off for me..

In any case, back to Husker football talk. I am very happy with the Huskers win..in years past, it would have been a game they’d have lost…
