Luke pointed out it could be very isolated, but also fairly strong. Given the prior underestimated storm to hit at 6am, I'm a bit overprepared, and a little woeful going to sleep.

I do not want another surprise. Fingers crossed.

Oh boy, I cannot wait for the upcoming weather! Starting Sunday, temps struggling to get in the upper 70's, with lows in the lower 50's, and dew points in the 50's. Itll almost feel like fall!

it's going to feel great! This 70's dew point |expletive| is getting tiresome. At least I haven't needed to water the yard at all this summer.

For the sake of swimming in our pool every night, it has been great. The water has been staying between 85-90 degrees, which feels great. As for mowing or doing any other activity outside, I can't wait for next week either.

Holy cr@p, this looks like my kind of weekend!

I know, not everybody's cup of tea, but it looks like its gonna rain literally all weekend. It would be perfect if it was about 55 degrees too. Can't tell ya why I love that kind of day, but I do. This weekend will be close enough. I really just get kinda bored when we get into a streak of 80 and sunny, 80 and sunny. I could never live along the California coast. Seattle would be my cup of tea though.

Is it really going to be an all day thing though. From what I have seen the showers are going to be pretty scattered, but it does sound like they will become more widespread Sat evening and Sunday. Either way, I wonder if we will get any significant rainfall from it.

That would suck. Ive camped in the rain before, its not all bad. Sounds like it may be off and on, but you can pretty much bet things won't dry out until after Monday.

It sounds like a pretty sure bet from all my sources. There may be pockets/periods the rain isn't falling, but I'd bet on the ground being wet all weekend.

Earlier they were saying it would start late morning. Now they're saying early afternoon, so you might get a dry morning.

They were also saying around an inch here, now they just said about a tenth pretty darn drastic change from what they said just a few hours ago.

NWS still saying over 1.5" by the time it starts to slow down Monday evening. Don't know who to believe. Sounds like it may be a fine line.

Lol, I just watched channel 6 and they seem to agree with KETV, as in itll hold off til later in the day tomorrow, but Sunday and Monday are more sure bets.

After Jade finished up, the anchor lady said "I'm all for it, gives me an excuse to not do anything".

That's me. No plans, no parties, no social obligations, no nothin'. She just spoke to my soul why I'm completely cool with the holiday weekend getting rained out. Glad to know I'm not the only one to think that way haha.

A pretty cool Labor Day weekend, a lot of years it’s still pretty hot out yet. So far it seems like an early fall. Summer has ended abruptly. Sure we will still see at least one more heat wave. I have not watered my lawn even once this summer.

Summer will be back. Or if not, I'll at least wager that much of fall will be warmer than normal. Has been for a few years.

What I like about this rain happening during the day, Is I enjoy experiencing the rain. So much of the rain we have gotten this year, has happened at night when I'm asleep, so I'll wake up and say "oh, it rained".

So I've been rather unfulfilled by all the rain and storms happening at night. Been the story of the summer, really - Don't fall asleep too hard cause there's gonna be a massive severe thunderstorm, and you're gonna wake up to some unpleasantries. So I look forward to a nice, gentle, long lasting accumulation and a bit of a cool down.

NWS still has our totals up there in the inch-plus range.

I think it depends where you are. We were sitting out on the patio from about 4:30 PM until the end of the K State VS North Dakota Game which was around 9:30 or so and never had more than a few light sprinkles. However when I told a few people we were sitting outside they were like "Isn't it raining there?" Can't beat a good night of watching football on the patio.

Just watched channel 6, and I have to say, it did not look real confident. Looked more like what we saw today, which for me was nothing. Starting to feel like a bust. The likelihood and total went up as the week went on, and now that its here, looking more like what they were saying earlier on.

She said there's still a chance of over an inch, but I'm not counting on it, at least not here. If I had plans that I canceled, I'd be a little and now even my plan of staying inside, having the windows open, listening to the rain are withering away.

I like the high temperature for tomorrow though. Mid 60's

I haven't been too enamored yet. It has yet to rain steadily here. Its been steadily barely raining, but still hasn't steadily steady rained to this point.

.38 recorded at Eppley, so further north and east you are, seems less impressive.

Ended up with .90" from the weekend total. I hated the gloomy weather, but it was great moisture that allowed it to soak into the ground more than torrential rain does. I planted some new trees on Saturday morning, so I am sure they enjoyed it.

Have to say its been a legit taste of fall in the past hour or so. A bit of a chill in the air with some pretty respectable wind gusts. I'm always up for a decreasing temperature day, and this proves to be one of em.

Holy |expletive|, I was in Papillion about an hour ago when it started raining like a mofo. Really didn't think much of it other than it was raining hard. Got home and as far as patio furniture potted plants and other plants go, it was like a bomb went off. I was not expecting that at all. Some of my potted tomatoes weigh upward of 50 lbs. Must have been one heck of a downburst or something. I feel lucky not to have broken windows.

I live near 90th & Center street. On the east side of Center we only got a half inch. On the west side of 90th, they got over an inch.

Yep. All I can say about Sunday afternoon is WOW! I’ve lived in Omaha most all of my life so I shouldn’t be surprised at whatever Mother Nature decides to throw at us, but this one caught me blindsided.
At 4 pm I was enjoying a second glass of wine and nibbling on cheese and fruit, while listening to music on my patio, coming through the TV and soundbar I frequently haul outdoors in nice weather. The near 90f afternoon finally got the best of me so I wandered in to relax in the A/C before prepping food to grill out. Semi sleepy in my easy chair I started hearing pinging noises near our picture window just after 4:30. It took me a minute to realize it was giant raindrops hitting the side of the house. “Oh $hit!, the TV’s still outside!” I ran out to rescue the electronics, and within 2 more minutes the skies opened up. By 5 pm the storm seemed to be winding down with our good little rain letting up. But noooo! At 5:05 pm our south facing window cam caught the frightening sight of strong winds buffeting the trees, then a deluge of rain and small hail clobbering the south side of the house. The winds hit at least 40-50 mph for about 30 seconds, before everything backed off. Our west facing patio had 4 larger pots blown off plant stands and strewn about in all 4 directions. All 4 sides of our house were soaked and covered in leaves all the way up to the eaves, which I thought was just bizarre. Our front yard was partially under water. Honestly for a split second I thought a small tornado was hatching.
This being Nebraska, we took advantage of the 20 degree drop in temperature to replace the pots, clean off our patio table, fire up the grill and eat our burgers at 6:30. Never a dull moment!
While walking our dog this morning I noticed that our neighborhood had a variety of tree branches and small limbs strewn about, which I guess we are used to by now.

I noticed in both your neighborhood and also Regency, a lot of branches were down.

Yes One Pacific Place Park had 4 or 5 larger tree limbs down, two were blocking the walking trail until someone was nice enough to move them. A neighbor on 99th street had a tree limb knock his phone line off the telephone pole.

Crazy how it affects different areas - SW where I live we saw about 5 minutes of rain and a few rumbles of thunder. No intense winds, either.

I wouldn't doubt if there was something. I was at 84th & Giles when it rained cats and dogs for 10 minutes or so, and on the way home i snapped this photo looking northeast from the 84th & J Kum & Go (er Maverik), and this cloud lowering was probably directly over my house as I took it.



There was also some surprisingly impressive CG lightning. I was honestly blindsided too. I figured eh, 30% chance of spotty thunderstorms, thats not really something to get my back up about. Wrong. I got home and was thinking where on earth did this come from? When I was down in Papillion, it was just heavy rain, nothing even really considerable. I was out walking back and forth between my vehicle and I didn't feel a reason to run. Crazy how it turned into that.

Just a heads up that despite the fact the NWS currently has a 10% chance of rain for Omaha, both model trends and radar trends are suggesting we will have rain in the area later this afternoon into this evening. The HRRR has consistently shown a band of heavy rain moving through and hitting areas just south of Omaha particularly "hard" (in parts of Sarpy county) with some rain in Omaha itself as well - though just to clarify, it shouldn't be anything too crazy but some places will probably see in excess of an inch of rain where the heaviest band sets up (probably in Sarpy county).

Looks like the bulk of the precip will occur starting later this afternoon and lasting on and off into morning tomorrow - possibly with scattered/isolated stuff hanging around until around noon probably

Currently tomorrow afternoon through Sunday looks pretty good aside from a few isolated showers/storms Sunday afternoon.
