Yeah, ESPN has us favored. They're often wrong, so take it with a grain of salt. But its been quite some time since they've been that bullish on the Skers.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
Talk about a real controversial topic, the Skers are wearing all red this Saturday. They've never worn the traditional red tops and red pants combo in my life. Apparently they only did it one other time in the 80's. I look forward to seeing how that looks, and how the old timers receive it.
It'll look pretty good in a blowout win, which after last week, I'd expect much the same, if not more of a clobbering.
Skers 91-0

Oof, well I feel pretty confident about 4 gimmes. UCLA looked like dog doo doo.
Get your predictions in y'all. Game is at 11.
I was being facetious about the 91-0 (I think you all got that)
No reason to think this one will be different.
I'll go Huskers 70-0.

What prompted the decision for the players to wear all red for the game? Just felt like it?

Yikes, UCLA losing to New Mexico 35–10 is not a good omen for their season. UCLA had 13 penalties!

Well, the change doesn’t seem to have affected Nebraska. They’re now up 17-0.

I think they look good. Glad to see they went with red shoes too. I was hoping they wouldn't go with the black shoes. Never was a fan of those.mrsticka wrote: Sat Sep 13, 2025 11:39 am Well, the change doesn’t seem to have affected Nebraska. They’re now up 17-0.
I dont care if or when they wear alternative uniforms, as long as they win. This game wasn't a risky choice at all, but they'll have a lot to prove in that blackout game against USC. Big risk going alternate in that game.
We all know there's fan superstition against alternate jerseys. Win that game in a blackout against USC and that'll pay dividends in getting more talent to come in.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
My idea for an alternate Nebraska uniform is a black jersey with the players' names and numbers in red with white outlines. Keep the helmets and pants white. And put the proper "N" logo on the helmets.Busguy2010 wrote: Sat Sep 13, 2025 11:53 amI think they look good. Glad to see they went with red shoes too. HCU just scored its first touchdown of the game. Now the score's 45-7. So no shutout for Nebraska this time. But I'm not worried. Nebraska's going to win this one.

Oh well, you like to see the shutout, but the 1's got their shutout, thats what matters. Good to see a game over at half time, and from then on its just practice reps for the 2's, 3's, and 4's. HCU still has their 1's in.mrsticka wrote: Sat Sep 13, 2025 1:27 pm HCU just scored its first touchdown of the game. Now the score's 45-7. So no shutout for Nebraska this time. But I'm not worried. Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
3-0.
Now, I'm a bit cautious in my enthusiasm, because Nebraska hasn't scheduled and won this easy of a start since 2014. It was about time they wised up and stopped reaching in the first three games. A 3-0 start goes a long way to get reps, and halfway to bowl eligibility. But these were basically NFL preseason games. We have no idea how that'll translate to an opponent like Michigan, that has every right to be top 20.
We'll see if they rank Nebraska just for the heck of it, really. I hope for a win for sure. It would be epic. In the back of my mind I fear daddy's gonna be changing the diaper again.
I sure hope we have cause for celebration next Saturday. Ill do my part.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
Michigan’s 2 wins were against a couple of nobodies. They lost to Oklahoma a couple weeks ago. They’re 2-1 and Nebraska’s 3-0. One of those wins was against a well coached Cincinnati team. So I’d say that Nebraska has definitely earned the right to be ranked.

Sure, but they didn't get completely embarrassed by Oklahoma. And the Skers snuck by Cincinnati.mrsticka wrote: Sat Sep 13, 2025 5:19 pm Michigan’s 2 wins were against a couple of nobodies. Too early in the season to really have an expectation. I could see it being any one of these possible outcomes - Michigan with a close win, Nebraska with a close win, Michigan with a blowout. I don't see Nebraska blowing the fenders off Michigan, but maybe I'll be wrong. Hope I am

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
Watching the game yesterday, one thing I noticed is the two Nebraska QBs had plenty of time to throw but their receivers must not be getting open enough on some of those plays because they had to wait so long. I think the backup QB touchdown came partly because he couldn’t find an open receiver so he said screw this and ran it in.
Going to better competition the next few weeks those receivers better work to get open.
On a side note, Texas A&M receiver who caught the winning touchdown last night in there win over Notre Dame was former husker tight end Nate Boerkircher.

According to Sports Illustrated, Nebraska is a 3-point underdog against Michigan. That sounds about right. So if Nebraska wins on Saturday, I expect fans to storm the field and tear down the goalposts.

UCLA fires Their Coach, DeShaun Foster, after a 0-3 start. In his second season, he had an overall record of 5-10
His three losses this season are
Utah 43-10
UNLV 30-23
New Mexico 35-10

Based on how empty their stadium looked for this last game, it certainly seems like a business decision. They looked terrible and that Nico QB is not the real deal.nebugeater wrote: Mon Sep 15, 2025 6:12 am UCLA fires Their Coach, DeShaun Foster, after a 0-3 start. I'd hope they can hold back from doing that. That would just show the nation how desperate we are. On the other hand, rightfully so. Haven't beaten a ranked team in almost 10 years.mrsticka wrote: Sun Sep 14, 2025 6:04 pm So if Nebraska wins on Saturday, I expect fans to storm the field and tear down the goalposts.
I personally would save that level of excitement if/when we play USC, and both teams are ranked for the blackout night game.
USC's opponents until then are all ranked, and if they win, I'd expect them to be 10th or so.
If Nebraska can win all of it's games until then, I'd expect them to be somewhere in the teens. So, let's say It ends up being [7-0 #9 USC] vs [8-0 #16 Nebraska], and the Huskers win in nail-biting fashion. Thats the game I really have my eye on. I hope both teams can hold it together up to that game. Could be epic.

Thats much more buyable than what it was. I think it shapes up to be a pretty competitive game. As of right now, I'm kind of leaning toward a 21-17 type game that could go either way.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
Watching the TNF game tonight, one thing about Nebraska Football I wish that doesn't have to do with the team itself, is where the main field camera is placed. Memorial stadium is higher up in the building. Watching this Bill's game, their camera room is obviously placed closer to field level, making for a lower angle, and a feeling of being more part of the game. I noticed that Wisconsin also has this lower camera placement, making for a more intimate viewing experience. For Husker games its more of a birds eye view, rather than a from the stands view. Just a subtle thing I'd change if it was me.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
I'm really on edge here for 2 reasons. One which doesn't have to do with Nebraska, but another that does:
1. This weekend, the Mariners and the Astros go head-to-head in a critical series that could determine the AL west division. I'm a Mariners fan and I'm hoping they can pull it off. I don't expect them to sweep the Astros, but at least take the series. It would be awesome if the Mariners clinched a spot in the playoffs.
2. Nebraska's game this Saturday against Michigan is certainly going to be a huge test as if that hasn't been said already. This game could go either way. All I can do is hope Nebraska doesn't shoot itself in the foot and find ways to lose.
As a sports fan, I can't recall the last time I was this nervous.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
Like I've been saying, this feels like it should be a pick em game. I really feel its gonna be a close one. I hope it pans out that way.
Since I'm a Homer, I'm gonna say Skers 21-20.
Score tied at 14-14 with 5 minutes left, Skers snag a monumental pick 6 that sends the stadium into state of pandemonium. Skers up 21-14, Michigan drives the field and takes the clock down to just a couple seconds and score. Michigan goes for two and the win, and the Skers come up with a goal line stop for the win.
If it happens like that, I approve the fans storm the field.

One more thing I'll say that I think bodes well for the boys, is looking at Michigan quarterback's stats. His stats say he's more of a runner and not a super confident thrower. Reminds me of when we had Jeff Sims. Remember him? No?
I digress. Really though, that style of play creates more opportunities for fumbles and interceptions that the Huskers could take advantage of.

A running QB is worst case scenario for Nebraska. The D line is undersized and Sorsby already showed that the defense does not do well when a QB runs, whether it is scripted or a scramble.Busguy2010 wrote: Fri Sep 19, 2025 11:45 am One more thing I'll say that I think bodes well for the boys, is looking at Michigan quarterback's stats. IMO, our best bet is to minimize pressure, let him sit in the pocket and force him to make throws.
