I was in the Maverik on 72nd and Pacific yesterday and noticed one of the registers has been converted to a self checkout lane. That's the first time I've seen one at a gas station/convenience store. I didn't try it because I had a fountain drink which of course doesn't have a UPC code to scan, and the idea of standing there and clicking through their UI to find it just so I could pay for something that costs like $1.50 made me grumpy

I can't remember where exactly, but some convenience store chain has bar codes on their fountain drink cups.

Maverik has bar codes on their Coffee Cups and I have check myself out with it. Not sure why it wouldn't add one to the pop too?

The self checkout is handy when you get behind someone with a bunch of scratch tickets and is really holding up the line.

Kwik Trip/Kwik Star have had self-checkouts for several years now too. Its really convenient for when you are in a hurry and that person in front of you is buying lottery tickets and some obscure brand of cigarettes. Just scan your items in a few seconds and pay instead of waiting.

It's really fun when people think the place is a casino, start scratching off tickets in front of the cashier, and redeem any winners for more tickets while the line slowly builds behind them.

Nebraska just had Powerball for a national lotto when I worked at a c-store, but high jackpot draw days were a nightmare too.

Kind of bummed they sold off so many locations to Mega Saver.

They are working on it. Several of them have been changed in the past couple weeks.

So far so good, they are doing way better with this takeover thank Casey's did with Bucky's.

I live right by one. I've noticed the ads, but not enough to bother me, let alone avoid the place altogether. odd complaint in a world where we are inundated by advertising 24/7 on our phones and everywhere else we go. So far, that's really the only change that I've seen in the changeover outside of signage.

I run ad blockers on my phone and at home because I'm not ok with being inundated by advertising 24/7. To me it's odd how some people are so accepting of that.

I could care less about adds at the pump unless they are annoyingly loud (usually happens at gas stations right on the highway). Very rarely do I stand there and look at the pump. I take the 2-3 min to walk around the car to look and see if there are any issues. Usually open up the back doors and looks and see if my kids left any trash in the back, Etc.

If they use Gilbarco dispensers with four buttons on either side of the screen, usually the second one down on the right side will mute the audio.

Been there at 77th & Dodge ever since it was built as a Bucky's/Shell. I suppose I can't attest to as if they're still there, as I quit going there due to the motorcycle gang. Regardless, they've been an annoyance going back 10 years.

Got it. Never been to that one. Guess I would give that a Casey's pass since it was not originally a Casey's and they would not necessarily remove them when taking over

Fantasy's had the screens too. I know the one that was next to Taco Bell in the lot with Home Depot had screens. It's a Casey's now. Not sure if they kept the screens or not since I never really go to Casey's.
