Papio NRD Dam Site 19 (SW 192nd & Giles)

When I was searching for info on the Aspen Creek HyVee and Gretna Landing commercial sites I came across a PDF file that showed future development in the surrounding areas.

Is anyone aware of the 75 acre lake with a dam site that shows up just west of 192nd & Giles? Right now it's farm land and a crappy house that's falling over. Is this really going to become some type of lake? If so, is it a residential development with its own lake, or is it planned to be a park area?

I don't think I knew about that one. I worked on another smaller damsite right up the road and there are several others in the works around town. Looking at the topography of this lake, it seems like it could be a decent size if they want it to be that big? Could back water up all the way to 204th street if they wanted. would make the lake about as big as Standing Bear.

DS-19 was to be finished in 2018 and here we are. When a lake site south of 185th and Harrison got developed into houses so they moved up the priority of DS-19. About that time they needed to create 2 lakes in Papillion at about 114th and Cornhusker so it got pushed back.

Last year they finally started buying property and own the three nice houses off 204th, just north of the neighborhood. They would need to buy 2 pieces of farm land, the junk house and the SE corner lot of 204th and Giles.

It sounds like 2026 will be a completion date. The plans gave a couple options for a dry lake (drain at the bottom and top) or the standard lake (drain at the top). Overall it should be about a 3 mile trail around with park and fishing.

I noticed last week when I was driving west on Giles towards 204th that they've torn down one of the POS houses that was just south of Giles (around 196th-ish). There are also some pink stakes in the ground in random places on the south side.

There's still one more junk home that's west of the new Gretna middle school (Giles Creek Middle School... honestly, thought they could have come up with a better name than that). It's right across the street from the new middle school's back (south) driveway entrance off 192nd.

Does anyone know when they may start to work on that lake that's supposed to go in on that SW corner? The only tidbit of info I have is from one of the commercial real estate websites that shows "future lake". I assume it's going to be a public park, similar to Zorinsky without any homes built on the lakeshore.
