Any rumors of an Apple Store making its way to the Big O?
Village pointe would be a great location for the store. A book store (wi-fi enabled) and an apple store at VP would make me very very happy.

I don't think we're going to get an Apple Store for a while. No rumors or anything have surfaced. Neither VP or Papillion Promenade are really types where Apple has opened other stores...Jordan Creek's uber-mall, Tulsa (15th largest metro w/out an Apple Store) is rumored to be getting one, if they haven't already. Omaha seems like it would be on the short list, but...

It was referenced from ifoapplestore.com and based on 2000 MSA numbers I believe. He's as fanatical about Apple Stores as many of us are about Omaha.

Apple Computer Retail Store. They're awesome. One, because they sell Apple computers and peripherals.

Two, because they don't sell Windows |expletive|.

Those things pale in comparison to a real Apple Store. Go ask a CompUSA employee anything specific about Apple products (well, any product for that matter). It's like trying to have a conversation with a McDonald's cashier.

I've been in maybe 6 or 7 different Apple Stores around the country. I work on the machines professionally, and I can have my difficult technical questions answered by anyone employed there. In my opinion, there's no chain retail in the country where you can get better service on any type of computer - Mac or Windows.

Unfortunately, they DO sell Apple |expletive|. :P

The OS may be pretty, but i'd rather run games, you know, before they've been out 2 years.

A couple weeks ago we ventured down to KC and hit the Apple store while we were there. It is a great store and seems like it would be a really nice fit out at VP.

I work at CompUSA and guarentee, any of our Apple salesmen know more about the product that you do.

I'll qualify my statement in that case to limit it to "the CompUSA's with which I have had first hand experience."

Rumor site info on upcoming Apple Stores:

http://www.thinksecret.com/news/0602briefly.html

40 new stores, no mention of anything near Omaha. Someone HAS to get on the ball and attract one of these to an Omaha mall. I'd actually drive out west for one of these.

The Apple jobs site has added job listings for the Village Pointe store a few day ago.

I would be guessing, but a July opening should be possible, and would be great for back to school sales.

Is it safe to move this out of 'Rumors' or do we need a formal announcement for what is already officially going to happen?

Actually, an earlier Apple Store rumor thread was pulled out of here and placed on the suburban forum. It got hijacked by Apple Vs. Windows BS and got locked.

This thread may stay open longer, as long as it doesn't get hijacked from a PeeCee owner.

Im guessing that you swapped the motherboard to get Windows to run? There are lots of Mac native *nix flavors, so the Linux isn't that impressive.

I was at NFM last week looking at the MacBook Pro, very nice laptop. FYI, all the batteries have been removed from the MacBook Pros, so if you pull the magnetic power cord to test it out, you shut down the computer  . But hey, on a brighter side, you can see how fast they boot-up!

Thanks for the heads up, if they had a 17in Duo there I would be leaving with a new computer.
I don’t blame them those things are very pricy. Back in hs kids used to steel the RAM out of desktops I couldn’t ever figure out how they did it so fast but they did. I had to put freaking paddle-locks on ALL the desktops.

Apple store - Not a Rumor anymore

Post by westom »

I've been a regular visitor to the forum for a while and wanted to be a part of the action.
I was looking at monster.com for jobs and I found there was an opening for positions in "APPLE STORE" in village point.

Actually, you can also do a google search or go to Apple's website for their employment opps. They list about a dozen positions or so for VP already. They posted them 3/23.

Nice to see one of these coming to town finally. We're planning a store at Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion, which is also another Red Development project, so who knows if they might want to do another one?
