2025 Fall Color Thread
I'm starting to see a fair number of maples showing some color. I've noticed a dozen or more in CB, and by my daughter's school, there's a maple that's yellow, green, and red. Along interstate 80 between 72nd and 96th, there are some that are changing too.

I know there has been random little bits of fall color for a month now, but the real fall color has really started kicking in over the last few days.

Re: 2025 Fall Color Thread
I’m thinking we should see peak colors next week in Omaha. I’ve got a tree in my backyard which should peak in the next few days.

Next week? No way. Still way to green to go from green to peak in a week.

My neighborhood is just starting to turn. I think it will be 2-3 weeks until peak.

I just returned from an amazing river cruise of middle Europe. The scenery was phenomenal. This part of the world sits between north latitude 47 and 51, comparable to Winnipeg or Fargo here in North America. While the weather was on the chilly side there was almost no color showing in any of the forests or cityscapes. We were told we were about two weeks early, due at least in part to climate change.

Another reason that much of mainland Europe is warmer than its American latitude counterparts is the proximity of the oceans and Mediterranean Sea and their tempering effects on temperature.nativeomahan wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 5:20 pm I just returned from an amazing river cruise of middle Europe. Another factoid along those lines: Most people don't realize New York City is farther South than Rome Italy.nativeomahan wrote: Wed Oct 15, 2025 5:20 pm I just returned from an amazing river cruise of middle Europe. I know some trees have been looking good for a while now, but the city has a whole is really starting to turn. It’s really too bad. The weather this weekend is gonna take a turn for the worse because we’ll probably lose a lot of leaves. Right now in the eastern half of the city, especially if you’re on top of a hill looking out over a big wide area of town there is a lot of color out there.

Nice! That orange tree in you back yard was looking really good last week. I noticed yesterday it was all gone now.
