I see what you're throwing down there. I'd just say by play style, the roles are reversed. Maybe a reverse Frazier-Barringer.mrsticka wrote: Sun Nov 09, 2025 12:09 am Does this remind anybody of Tommie Frazier and Brook Berringer? Went to the Big Red Dinner at the Tangier Shrine last night. Been going since around 2001.
Last night, Jason Peter was the speaker. He talked and took questions for over an hour, all without any notes. He is excellent to listen to when doing interviews, but in a setting like this, it is even better. Wish everyone had the chance to hear his take on things in this type of setting.

While they don't play anybody this weekend, I just took a look at the standings, and Penn State is, to my surprise, winless in conference play, so maybe the boys stand a good chance next weekend. If they win that game, I'd think the Iowa game would be ranked vs ranked. They're right on the cusp and have a golden opportunity to finish 9-3 and ranked.

I hope Iowa does hold it together and the Huskers win next weekend. It'll set up a big black Friday game. Gotta give credit where it's due. Iowa has lost 3 games all to ranked opponents by a total of 10 points. Thats admittedly pretty impressive. I hope they prove to be a formidable opponent, and the Huskers beat em.

Boy, Iowa looks like they aren't gonna be easy. Up 21-10 on USC at the half on the road. They're holding up their end, looks like.

First time in 5 years that they were up by 14 and lost. Now they can stop talking about having a chance at the playoff for Iowa.
One that that is absolutely insane as Iowa didn’t have a single offensive holding call all season until this game, that is ridiculous because holding happens on almost every play.
Let’s hope the huskers can finally get one from Iowa this year.

Well, it looks like Michigan State can forget about a bowl game. Penn State on the other hand still has a chance to make a bowl game. Next week’s game against Nebraska will be their last chance.

I chuckled about it. I quit watching at the half and was surprised they blew it. Still only lost by 5 (their biggest loss) to a similarly ranked team. I'd assume they are still hovering somewhere around top 25, as the Huskers are. I still think they're a formidable opponent. It probably will be a pretty tough game.mrsticka wrote: Sat Nov 15, 2025 5:53 pm I guess this makes Nebraska’s upcoming game with Iowa not as big.

Probably because his brother won't be there much longer. Seen the writing on the wall, and there's no way he didn't have consultation from Dylan and Donovan.
I would guess "the plan" was for Dylan to be wildly successful and have little bro take over after Dylan declares for the draft after next season. If Lateef gets three more starts and wins/performs better, I don't think theres any way Rhule ditches Lateef in favor of a post-injury Raiola.
Just a hunch though, don't hold me to it.

Good call, nebugeater. Didn't realize the link wouldn't post fully.
I think Dylan and Johnson return next year. Dylan would be best utilized along with Lateef where necessary by the team they're playing. Depending on the year he has, Dylan might leave after that leaving Lateef and Trae Taylor or we have a stout 27 QB club with the three of them. Dayton chose Nebraska over Apalachian State and Charlotte. I don't know if his stock has risen any further and he only got the offer because of his last name.

Anyone saying which QBs are staying and going at this point is just a guess. That is fine. Let's see how the last three games go before anointing TJ and the savior. One complete game and a little more have some decent things to see, but they do not show the future. Let's see what happens when the teams we are playing have some tape on him to study.

Yeah, we'll see. I hope it goes well. As the season has gone on I grew frustrated with Raiola's lack of mobility, to a point he seemed so heck bent on verifying his identity as a "pocket passer" that he'd take a big sack just looking for a receiver that wasn't open. There's gotta be an internal clock, and he proved it doesn't do much good to dance around for 7 seconds. Lateef ran immediately up the middle his very first play and got like 15, it was exactly what I'd been longing to see. Hope he can keep it up. Nebraska football is more entertaining when we have a QB that can run, even if just a little bit.

That's kind of a weird take and certainly doesn't really make sense to me. I can't fathom he purposely took a sack to prove a point as a pocket passer. I think honestly it was part of his development. After the Minnesota game (where they whole team looked off, very possibly distracted by all the Rhule stuff), in which he took 9 sacks, he seemed to be getting rid of the ball quicker.Busguy2010 wrote: Wed Nov 19, 2025 1:25 pm Yeah, we'll see. I didn't mean he literally takes a sack on purpose, looking primarily (borderline only) for the pass is just part of his play style.OmahaRedWing wrote: Wed Nov 19, 2025 2:57 pmThat's kind of a weird take and certainly doesn't really make sense to me. -87 yards rushing on the season speaks for itself. Thats not even on the O-line at that point. He's just not a run threat, at all.
Comparing that to two of the most lame rushing quarbacks I've followed in the NFL that I can conjure up, Jared Goff has never had a season with negative rushing, and all but one of Tom Brady's 21 seasons has been positive. In the NFL.
There's a difference between a "pocket passer" and a football player. You have to use your legs to gain yards at least a little. I can't think of another Nebraska QB that solely relied on his arm more, aside from Tanner Lee.
Not hating on the guy, just if he's gonna our quarterback, run forward a little bit! He probably has a thousand meaningless yards run behind the line of scrimmage.

Look we've seen Dylan at QB for a season and a half. He's not a running QB. I don't think there is anything intentional on his part. As I have said to others, it's just not in his wheelhouse. He doesn't have to verify anything, he is not a dual threat or even running QB, he is a pocket passer. With all of the Mahomes traits he supposedly copies, I think he'd like to be able to move like Patrick. Actually, he's probably love to. It's just not in his skillset.
I'm not a Dylan apologist or big fan by any means. I prefer dual threat QBs for college. That being said I think some of the Dylan criticisms are a bit misguided. Saw these stats in an article from Athlon Sports:
Raiola has completed 181 of 250 passes for 2 thousand yards, 18 td's with 6 int's, and a school record 72.4 completion rate.
Does he need to take less sacks, of course. Run more, yes (though as we saw that could lead to more injuries). He needs to improve on throwing the ball away, this will lead to less sacks and int's.
That being said, I think some of the offensive struggles also fall on the o-line and lack of a true deep threat at receiver.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
I think he's a good kid, I just wanted to see some more grit to him. To your point, you'd think all the ties he has to Mahomes, he'd take off now and then. However, I also think the way Mahomes dances around to buy time in the NFL trickled down into Raiola's play style. IIRC, he got injured on a sack, not by trying to make something out of a run.
I personally don't care much for Mahomes's play style, and although Raiola's tried to distance himself from the comparisons, he also pretty well embraces them at the same time. He's basically a carbon copy, without the run.
It seems a bit like this year the play style is catching up to Mahomes himself. I want to see football players play the game, not the rulebook. Mahomes was made fun of for having a "dad bod" and Raiola has even more one than he does. More time in the strength and agility department wouldn't be a bad thing.
Anyway, Raiola is out at least for the rest of the season. I truly think they would have beaten USC even after Lateef came in, save for those two dropped deep passes. I'll admit maybe I am a little endeared by Lateef at the moment, because he's just plain more entertaining to watch. We (and the opposition) don't know the playbook with our eyes closed.

The bottom line for me is that when Raiola went out, it didn’t feel like the end of the world as it has sometimes in the past. Lateef looks perfectly capable of as good a job. I don't worry when he goes to throw, and I'm excited when he goes to run.

I saw were Penn State opened on Draft Kings as a double digit favorite over Nebraska. It looks like it's dropped a little but most places still have Penn State as at least an 8.5 point favorite.

Thats interesting. They really haven't beaten much of anybody, and they lost to UCLA, Northwestern, and Iowa. I think theres a good chance the Skers walk out of there with a close win. At least my gut feeling, I'm not particularly afraid. I more hate that it's a night game than I am worried the Skers lose.Greg S wrote: Fri Nov 21, 2025 11:16 am I saw were Penn State opened on Draft Kings as a double digit favorite over Nebraska. Give me a break. I just caught a glance at the Oklahoma game while they were reviewing a play, and I saw the player's last name said "UNITY". I thought, well that's an odd last name. Came to find every player has the word unity in place of their last name. Can we just play football, please? Not everything needs to be a political statement. I didn’t think "unity" was still an issue. NFL teams are quietly getting off the bandwagon, so I'm surprised to see Oklahoma of all places getting on this now.

I found they've been doing it for a few years. It's not controversial, it's just why? I thought we were good to where we could just move forward. Apparently we're not unified? I can tell ya in my whole life I've never not treated another decent person decently, so them continually "feeding us peas", just bleck. Treating people with reciprocal respect in daily life isn't enough, is what they're telling me. I come to football to get away. I much prefer your usual tasty football party snacks over a bowl of peas.Greg S wrote: Sat Nov 22, 2025 4:18 pm When did the word Unity become controversial? Ironically, the team the Huskers play tonight are one of the few teams that had no names on their jersey. That to me is a more football team related appropriate display of unity. If I was a player, I'd be like "Bruh, I get it, but don't make me change my last name".
