3 points on the board would look pretty good about now.

Wow..
What a pathetic performance from the Huskers..especially coming off a bye..missed tackles and what looks to be a lack of effort defensively. No excuse for this level of ineptitude on both sides of the ball..especially this late in the season..
No momentum now going into the Iowa game this Friday..Which NU will likely lose as well..
Embarrassing…

Penn State looks better than a 4-6 team. Nebraska will need a miracle to beat Iowa in 6 days.

Agreed. Nebraska should NOT be doing this badly. Especially against a cupcake team with a losing record this season.

It feels like one of those games. Certainly not worth waiting around all day to watch this |expletive|.
Defense is terrible tonight. The type of game I tune out and check the damage when its over.

Well, they could... I have 5% confidence they'll do it. 20 points, almost HAVE to stop Penn State on their opening drive. A fumble recovery or an interception would be REAL nice. They have to steal possessions at this point.mrsticka wrote: Sat Nov 22, 2025 7:46 pm Hopefully, Nebraska will make some adjustments in the second half.

Lateef looks very average tonight, lacks the spark and sharpness he had against UCLA. I’m trying to figure out how Penn State has only 4 wins so far.

Yep took almost 3 quarters for 1 touchdown, I’m sure Penn States defense has relaxed somewhat. Usually happens during a blowout.

At this point, players should be benched and coaches fired for an inept performance such as this..and coming off a bye?..
When does the madness end? I don’t know.. This football program has been irrelevant for 25 years and from what I’m seeing, there is NO END in sight..
There is no way to defend or spin this..Penn St is 4-6 for a reason..and the Huskers are making them look
Like a playoff contender. This result is INEXCUSABLE…

Game's over. Nebraska lost 37-10. Stagburn it! Something tells me Matt Rhule didn't really want to win this one because it was against his former alma mater.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
Only reason they're even bowl eligible is they spotted themselves 3 wins to start the season. Skers look like more of a 4 win team than Penn State.
I thought, and shame on me, we were over the embarrassing losses. And it stings more, its always a night game that's watched with more eyes nationally, and to wait around and have hope all day, and for two weeks to watch *that*... it's gonna be an extremely quiet week around here.
I don't have a lot of hope at all now for the Iowa game.
The biggest thing (literally) I noticed was Penn State's rather husky kicker. We saw him kick it off 5-6 times? Says a lot when thats the most notable takeaway.

Have no fear. I discovered the following proof:
A. Iowa beat Michigan State by 3.
B. Nebraska beat Michigan State by 11.
∴ Nebraska is better than Iowa.

If the Huskers can take care of the ball and don’t get a ton of penalties, they should beat Iowa. That is the only chance Iowa has. Like all other years, just shut down their running game (which isn’t the Huskers strong suit)because we all know Iowa has no passing game. Their QB had 30 yards passing through 3 quarters yesterday.

Problem is, I'm pretty sure Iowa's game plan is to beat everybody by 3. If they get beat, they were out classed to begin with, if they win by 3, thats exactly what they want, if they win by more, then, "ope, oh jeez, whaddaya know?"remline wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 8:42 am Have no fear. Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
Agreed. It’s really a concern how both coordinators consistently can’t make adjustments during a game. Obviously Nebraska needs significant portal help in the trenches but Butler hasn’t improved the awful run defense all season and Holgorsen is either very predictable or too cute at the wrong times. Holgorsen particularly seems out of touch with today’s game and I’ll be disappointed to see him back next year.Omaha Cowboy wrote: Sat Nov 22, 2025 8:51 pm At this point, players should be benched and coaches fired for an inept performance such as this..and coming off a bye?..

Rhule seems too focused on “preparing kids for the NFL” (kids who mostly don’t even have a chance or getting drafted) instead of winning games.
Given the schedule the low bar should’ve been a 9-10 win season. If Rhule & Co. can’t beat a less talented Iowa for the third year in a row it says a lot about the coaching and lack of player development.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
I don't assume that Nebraska is more talented than our opponents. For example, I expect that this year's Iowa team will matriculate more players to the NFL than will this year's Nebraska team. Of course, lack of player development could be a big part of the reason that our players don't make it to the NFL—it is always difficult to gauge that from the outside.nebport5 wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 10:40 am If Rhule & Co. can’t beat a less talented Iowa for the third year in a row it says a lot about the coaching and lack of player development.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
My bad, I thought you were done trying to understand my angle. This is a duplicate response to a quote you already replied to. But, since you asked again, I will try my best to articulate.Greg S wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 9:30 am Again, how is the word Unity, controversial or bad? I just don't get how that word could be an issue.
Putting the word Unity on your back is much akin to the participation trophy. You know, every kid loses, but giving them a trophy anyway makes them feel like they've accomplished something. You know that degrades character development, right?
In the case of slapping Unity on your back... I'm pretty sure every football team is united (generally. There are a few rotten eggs), however, Oklahoma makes a statement saying they're united, so they put themselves on a moral high ground. "So you in the stands and you at home, be like us and unite. You haven't been doing a very good job of uniting" hence, why I said feeding us our peas.
So here I am looking at the dude on my left, and the dude to my right. Im pretty sure we're united. "So are you accusing us of not being united?" Therefore its a more broad statement that trickles into every day life. I treat people who I dont even know and may never see again with the dignity and respect they deserve based on the merits of their character and behavior. Thats pretty universal isn't it?
So by them putting Unity on every player's back is a statement that says "You there, unite, no matter what the other person does. Unite, or else. Here, have some peas, it'll be alright." And here I am the kid "well sir, I thought we were playing nice". "Don't talk back to me young man. You're grounded!"
If you ever watch South park, its Butters in a nutshell. Poor kid is always in trouble even though he never did anything wrong, he gets fed up and it turns him into a bad kid.
I don't take it real seriously, I'm not mad about it. I just want to watch the game of football, not a platform.

Thing about Iowa is they just play to the fundamentals. Somehow they beat everybody with nothing flashy. They play defense, special teams, offensive line, run game, and tight ends, like its 1948. And they still winnebport5 wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 3:35 pmI think that’s a b.s. construct and I’ll pass on the bait.CBJason wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 11:15 amI guess I missed this one yesterday. Thats what makes losing to them frustrating. How many different things we've tried, yet they do the same |expletive| and somehow we can't figure it out.
We'll see how it goes, but yeah, I'm not super invested. Jokingly, final score, Iowa 2-0.

Both Iowa and Nebraska will be playing for an 8th win and a better bowl game. I definitely like Iowa in this game. Nebraska will out yardage them and have more first downs.

Per that article:
- "USC is the first school in the Underperformer category, since they have a 5-year Big Ten average recruiting rank… good for 5th overall in the Big Ten"
- "Nebraska is our second recruiting Underperformer, ranking 6th best in Big Ten recruiting and with a 5-year Big Ten recruiting average"
- USC has sent 22 players to the NFL
- Iowa has sent 19 players to the NFL
- Nebraska has sent 9 players to the NFL
- Even though USC under-performs on the field, the NFL clearly thinks they have a lot of talent.
- Even though Iowa lacks highly regarded high school recruiting, the NFL clearly thinks they have a lot of talent.
