I wouldn't. Take your chips and get out the cino. He's been great, and I hope he goes to a team that doesn't use him up for nothin. Ill cross my fingers and hope he goes to the Lions or Patriots. Even if there's other needs, he was that good, I want him on my team.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
This is interesting. Watching BYU I was stumped when I saw the QB wearing 47. I thought maybe their normal QB got hurt, and this guy is an emergency QB thats normally a RB,LB,or FB. He's the normal QB. He's a pretty big boy, and turns out he used to be a linebacker. Sounds like he can spin it too. Woulda never thought a linebacker could pull that off haha.

Well, Dylan Raiola skipping town. I agree its not a clear picture. Most leaves fall from a tree together. I would be really surprised if he's motivated to be the one leaf to hang on.nebugeater wrote: Sat Dec 06, 2025 5:03 pmand what would that be. I wouldn't blame him if that's the end point. Just business. If thats the case, we'll be okay. And when I say okay, I mean *okay*. Skers were just, "okay". I think any QB, or group of QB's could muster up 7 wins with the easiest schedule in memory, and the right game plan
Not doggin on him, he's a good QB, but also not our savior. I'm thinking its 50-50. My optimism for the future doesn't hinge on whether he stays or goes.

I never thought I'd see the day. Indiana just beat THE mighty Ohio State. Just a couple years ago, Indiana was the door mat. I'll dream of the day Nebraski can pull a turnaround like that.

This is Indiana's first Big Ten title since 1967, which they shared with Minnesota and Purdue and their first outright one since 1945. It's party time in Bloomington. That's for sure.

Duke upset Virginia in the ACC Championship game 27-20 in overtime. So they win their first ACC title since 1989, which they shared with Virginia ironically enough. And it's their first outright ACC title since 1962.
It's party time in Bloomington, IN, and Durham, NC.

So, two schools probably better known for success in basketball (Indiana and Duke) won conference football championships yesterday lol.
Looks like the ACC might not have a a team in the college football playoff, since a now 8-5 Duke won the ACC championship game yesterday, probably the worst scenario for the ACC while 10-2 Miami didn't even play for the ACC championship.

Great example of coaching triumphing over talent. Indiana does have talent and good players but not at the OSU level.Busguy2010 wrote: Sat Dec 06, 2025 10:44 pm I never thought I'd see the day. There’s talk of eliminating the conference championships…but if we have them they ought to count for something.jag42 wrote: Sun Dec 07, 2025 9:14 am So, two schools probably better known for success in basketball (Indiana and Duke) won conference football championships yesterday lol.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
Ever since the CFP, I have not been a fan of conference championship games, even moreso with the playoff expansion.
This is why I'm in favor of dividing college football into conferences of 14, playing 13 regular season games, round robin, conference games only, determine the champ that way. 1st and 2nd teams in each conference are the real playoff teams, with 3rd being wild cards. 12 team playoff still.
I've thought this over a number of times. So 56 eligible teams means some schools face the axe. And I mean schools that have never been good, just recently joined a power conference, are having trouble finding a conference, etc. I've not yet thought of a good way to point out which schools. But they can create their own system.
Instead, they're talking about expanding the playoff even more, trying to create a Cinderella story. If they expand it to 24 or 28, that would mean Nebraska would have been close, which would have been blasphemy. Do they really think a 28th place deserves to get really, really lucky to displace an actual good team? Nobody wants to watch a pointless game like that, or at least I wouldn't think they do.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
Just to give you an Idea of how I'd do it, basically divide the conferences up by time zone as much as they can. I started identifying the teams, some are no-brainers, but once you get to 10 or 12, it gets laborious, so I never completed it. Let them figure it out haha. I know they never will. College football is such a money grab and sensationalized, it'll never be objective.

HUH. So Nebraska will play Utah on December 31st in Vegas.
I don't know how they drew that one up. From what I've seen of Utah, they're much better. My thought is they set it up as a test for Nebraska.
I can't complain, I don't remember the last time our bowl game (if any) was that late in bowl season.
Just surprised they got one that late in the year.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
You’re not always going to see evenly matched teams in bowl games. In this case, the Las Vegas bowl tie-ins were Big Ten and former Pac 12 teams. Bowls will then bid on what teams from those conferences they will get (that are still available) based on where they fall in conference standings, and some teams could be a more desirable draw if they have a fanbase that travels.Busguy2010 wrote: Sun Dec 07, 2025 10:55 pm Seems like it cause Utah is 15, and Nebraska is like 30-40 something.

I'm in favor of individual 8-team conference tournaments instead of just a single championship game to determine a conference champion followed by a 16-team playoff.Busguy2010 wrote: Sun Dec 07, 2025 12:58 pm Ever since the CFP, I have not been a fan of conference championship games, even moreso with the playoff expansion.

How conference tournaments would work:
-The 8 teams with the highest winning records of the season get invited to the tournament.
-For the first round, the quarterfinals, there would be 2 games played on the first Friday in December, then 2 more games the next day.
-The winners of those games would then move onto the next round, the semifinals, which would be played the very next week.
-There would be either 1 game on Friday and another game the next day or 2 games on that Saturday with 1 game early in the day and the other game at night.
-The winners of those games would then move onto the final game to decide the champion. The winner is crowned the conference champion and receives an automatic bid to the playoffs.
-And yes, the teams would all be seeded. So #1 vs. #8, #2 vs. #7, #3 vs. #6 and #4 vs. #5.

I just read that 8 or so schools turned down bowl bids. Is this one of the realities in this age of the transfer portal and NIL?

I was just telling one of my co-workers that bowl games are dead. Couple more years it will be playoffs only. Heck, even Notre Dame turned down their bowl game.jag42 wrote: Mon Dec 08, 2025 1:03 pm I just read that 8 or so schools turned down bowl bids. Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
They really don't mean anything anymore. Back when the champion was determined by polls, the kids had to play their hearts out in their bowl games. That changed when they started having the national championship game, then changed even more with playoffs and playoff expansion.jag42 wrote: Mon Dec 08, 2025 1:03 pm I just read that 8 or so schools turned down bowl bids. Might as well just sit out and not get hurt. Assuming those schools didn't have enough players who wanted to play.
There's always been too many bowls anyway. The new year six are the only ones that matter. But now there's what, like 40?

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
I think the value for bowl games anymore is the extra practices that go with it. That said, if the benefit of extra practices is uncoupled from a bowl trip I see the bowls quickly becoming a thing of the past.

I think I can puke. The awards came tonight, and the Dave Rimington award (named for former Nebraska center) for nations best center was presented to Logan Jones, the center for Iowa, out of Lewis Central HS in CB. Apparently he said "if you want to win, go to Iowa"
That burns on the way back up. Have mercy.

College football just isn’t the same anymore. It’s more of a proving ground to see if you’re good enough for the NFL. Kinda like minor league baseball. Season won-loss records aren’t that big of a deal what matters is if you play well as an individual and that’s about it. I would say get rid of bowl Games altogether. And just have the playoffs and championship game only.

Untill TV decides the bowl games are not worth providing new live content, they will stick around. They can care less about actual attendance. There are still enough that watch that they can generate the TV revenue needed. Of course, that can change, but it is a ways off IMOCermak wrote: Sat Dec 13, 2025 4:01 am College football just isn’t the same anymore. Mostly true, alas. But the better solution is to get rid of the playoffs/championship, and preserve the bowl games! But either way, playoffs and bowls are incompatible.Cermak wrote: Sat Dec 13, 2025 4:01 am College football just isn’t the same anymore. Man, I just had like a lucid dream during a snooze. The Huskers were actually dominant, and much like the Cowboys snap cadence of, "YEAH, HERE WE GO", the QB in my dream said "GO BIG RED" in a low, loud, gravely voice like Dak. Crowd was dead silent during. Proceeds to throw an 80 air yard touchdown pass like NFL Blitz. Skers 70-10.
That'll be the day when the Skers have the balls to do that. However, I highly doubt the crowd would keep it together and not respond and |expletive| up the play
Nice dream.

I'm no young man and can use a nap after dinner and a glass of wine. I don't see how thats a requirement for having a dream though. I don't control what I dream about, but I had a football game on in the background, so that probably influenced it. Just enjoy the thought of Husker Football being good again

It was bound to happen. I saw it coming a mile away, almost the moment he got injured. We'll be okay. By okay, I mean no better or worse off. Probably the .500-ish team weve grown to love.
Ironically, Patrick Mahomes and his doppelganger both got similarly season ending injuries. Can't not point out that they both hold onto the ball for so long, and they both don't appear to spend a lot of time in the weight room.

Mostly what I am seeing is that Nebraska is a big underdog against Utah. Seems right around 14 1/2 currently.
Nothing to argue with there either.
