If you have any vision at all, that is a way to nice of a spot for a maintenance facility. The riverfront is/going to be some of the most valuable property in Omaha. Get the Beam built, maybe the Children's museum, year round market ect. Somebody would of used that space for something better.

Its really the only place along the route that makes sense. Then entire rest of the current route would be full of NIMBY when it comes to a maintenance facility.

It's gotta be the least disagreeable site for a maintenance facility. Under a bridge, power lines, next to railroad tracks, loading docks of the arena. If you've ever been down there, you know it isn't real pretty. A streetcar maintenance facility fits in perfectly here.

Watching streetcars roll in and out of there is going to make it an attraction - at least for train lovers and transit enthusiasts.

Basically, all of us that have photographed it, have shot from by the parking by the Luminarium. Not impossible at all.

Damn near a figure a speech, if you will. Couldn't go east on Douglas, couldn't go east on Farnam, didn't care to turn around and poke my nose down every street. I assumed Capitol was also still closed, wasn't gonna go all the way up to Abbott and Riverfront, hence "damn near" lol.

According to KETV, Harney St bridge is expected to be open later this week. Also westbound Farnam at 10th St will be open by Thanksgiving.

The new Harney bridge will actually give me a good viewing angle for when they take down the Farnam bridge. Won't that be fun. Traffic on Farnam will be cut off for a year, so it will be interesting to see how traffic adapts.

Has anyone notice the nice sculpting on the new bridge, they have some concrete pillars by the pedestrian area.
The pedestrian portion is looking good.

The Harney Street Bridge over Interstate 480 will reopen the afternoon of Wednesday, Nov. 26, marking a major milestone in the streetcar project. The bridge serves as a valuable link between several major Omaha residential, business and entertainment districts.

I'm walking through Blackstone District today, and I see 38th & Farnam intersection is all done, and should be opened up fully, soon.

Also walked down Farnam towards 40th and there is no more underground work I see, plus all the pavement is laid. There are still barricades at this moment but I suspect any time now it will all be open, traffic flowing freely again - that is, until a couple months from now they do the exciting mainline work!

No, that is the next step. I believe they will have to rip up the streets again and wont be able to cut a path into them.

Mainline construction (laying the tracks) is set to start in January at two locations simultaneously - east from 10th & Capitol, and west from 31st & Farnam. It will be worked on in 2,000-foot sections at a time before moving on to the next stretch.

Blackstone District should have a couple months of free-flowing traffic since all the underground work is finished and the streets will open up again, and then by the time they tear up the streets again (to lay track), it will probably be spring. That's my understanding unless someone here knows different.

Any idea when they are going to turn on the decorative light on the new Harney St bridge? The bridge has been open for almost a month and is totally dark at night except for the lights on the east and west side of the bridge.

Digging up the street has commenced for the initial stretch of mainline construction.

Also right about at this point is to be a streetcar stop. I'm anxious to see how it looks a couple weeks from now.

Very glad to see for the obvious reason that the streetcar is getting closer, but also bc that stretch of pavement is in rough shape especially considering that it isn't that old.

When I was in KC during their streetcar construction, they seemed to remove just enough pavement to lay the ballast and ties in the ground.

Driving through KC, I agree, looks like they only took out enough and not the whole street or parking areas.

My best guess is that with the median stop and the extended curb bump-outs, they may want to change the slope of the pavement to avoid drainage issues. With that being said, Occam's Razor would point to the parking area being damaged.
