I believe this was posted elsewhere, but not seeing it this morning.

Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is building in the Coventry Development on 204th Street Between Harrison and Q Streets, south of the ACX Theater.

I heard that and then sort of forgot about it. lol Thanks for the reminder.

I presume this is the franchisee that was originally coming to Gretna near Fareway. They sort of "pumped the brakes" when COVID hit. That original location ended up being a PepperJax instead.

My understanding was that they dropped the Gretna location by Fairway because the lot size was too small for what they needed, the way it ended up getting laid out. If you look at the footprint for Pepper Jacks, it is small

Very few people dine inside fast food restaurants anymore. I think we'll continue to see shrinking dining rooms and smaller fast food restaurant footprints. COVID really cemented the habit of people getting drive-thru and takeout. I'm not a fan. I think it's an inferior dining experience, but I seem to be in the minority.

I'm with you. Not getting fast food at the drive-through to take home ( will make someting at home) or eat in the car (don't want the mess). Will do the in-car thing occasionally but it has to be a road trip.

I guess I miss the boat on this place because IMO it's nothing great. I'd take Bronco's over it (and probably even McDonald's). I agree Culver's has a better burger than MCD's., but to see so many Freddy's go in is a bit surprising. Half the time I drive by their 180th & Center St location it's bare... like ghost town (lunch time, during the day, dinner, etc). I've seen it busy maybe 2-3x.

But I'm guessing I'm in the minority here as they must be appealing to a lot of ppl. I'm sure a new store is about $2M minimum now.

I like their hot dogs (they butter and grill the buns) and I'm a sucker for their thin cut fries. Their burgers are very ho-hum as far as I'm concerned and I never get the frozen custard.

Only thing I like from Freddy's anymore is the fries and fry (spicy) sauce. It always takes a while to eat with those little fries. The seasoning is good too. When they first came to town, they did make a good Chicago Dog. The California Burger was good too. They just don't really seem to care about the product anymore. Maybe Im going to the wrong locations, I dunno. I haven't really had what I'd consider a good main from them in quite some time.

Freddy’s is one of the very few “fast food” places I will spend money in, and I always eat inside the restaurant. I hate for my car to smell like greasy food.

I saw on the Freddy's website that the Papillion location is marked closed for construction and maintenance.

I don't go there as often as I used to, but there was a time it seemed like they were always having roof leak or HVAC issues.

I've never been a fan, so I suppose even less so now, LOL.

Are they still building up along 204th? With all of those developments happening between Harrison and Pacific, I can't keep track of which block was going to get one of these.

It's been owned by a PE firm since 2021, and was recently sold to another one.

I believe the Shadow Lake location was the first. They were better back then, but they really are not very good in recent years. Probably been at least 10 years since I considered them "good".

Though, when I talk about them, it sounds good. Their fries are good, as well as the fry seasoning is a unique touch. They are annoyingly small though. The fry sauce is a must, and its nice they have a spicy version.

My go-to items when they were good are the California Burger, and the Chicago Dog. I sometimes will get a California Burger in a lettuce wrap, and ask for extra lettuce, so it turns out to basically be a burger patty in a head of lettuce lol. Its a nice option to have.

But yeah, the 75th & Dodge, and 72nd & Military locations have just been not all that. So I don't go there often at all.

Maybe I should then say they're unique. I don't think they suck. They definitely don't knock my socks off, and they are annoyingly small. But that lends to them a crispness that you don't get just any place. Add the seasoning, and the fry sauce (theres a reason I said it's a must), and I think you have a pretty good combo.

Having said that, they are just not as good anymore. I could go over there today or any day easy, 5 minutes. But I don't.

I like their fries, but have to be in the right mood for them. And yes, the fry sauce is a must!

For those who don’t like the fries, they also have tots and onion rings, both of which are pretty good. Actually, most of the time I’d take the tots over the fries.

Freddy's fries are good. They're just thin, which is sort of the gimmick, so you have to eat them quickly. If you were planning on leisurely eating your burger while you chit-chat and then absent-mindedly eating a couple fries, then you're going to be eating cold fries. Likewise, if you're a single fry at a time person that individually dips each one into ketchup and eats it, then you're probably going to find them tedious. However, hot and fresh from the kitchen they're pretty tasty. I certainly prefer them to the opposite (ginormous "steak fries") where it seems like every fry is a ¼ of a potato.

They have decent cheese curds. I'd get those or rings. But, its probably been several years since I was there.

I like their fries. I eat them with a fork so I can stab 3 or 4 at a time, otherwise it would just take too long. The sauce is fantastic. And I really like their hot dogs. The burgers aren’t much to brag about.

This is probably earth-shattering and world-changing news, but the Freddy's in the Converty development opened this week. I drove by on Monday (Labor Day), and there was a food deleivery semi there and a lot of cars in the lot. The last couple of days, the banner flags have been up saying " Now Open "
