Yeah I struggled to call it a moral victory since we are so good. That being said, this game more than the others might have solidified my belief that we as good as our record and our rating. Down two of our top 6 and it's a game that felt like we should have won more than we should have lost.

I wonder with guys having to play more than their usual roles and mintues impacted our legs in the 2nd half on the 3 point shots?

Would have loved to have won that thing but it certainly didn't change how I feel about this teams talent, chemistry and culture.
This is what I think. Playing such an athletic team like Michigan shorthanded, they were gassed. All those 3's that we made in the first half were short in the second. But this was a really impressive game where we led for all but the first and last few minutes.
Jacob Padilla is on 1620 now and he is thinking the same thing. Playing like we had to last night (with a smaller lineup overall) caused us to exert way more energy and hurt our shots in the 2nd half.
If Rienk Mast had been available and even 75%, I truly believe the Huskers would have one. That is just the way it falls though

I just hope the bug didn't get spread around, and we are dealing with other players sick on Sunday

I had a similar thought, hopefully it's not going around the team.

Maryland game is now a sellout. There are no remaining tickets available for any home games remaining.....

I believe this means that NU will have sold out every conference home game this season.

Sounds like Fred Hoburg said today that it is likely both Frager and Mast will be available for Sunday. Mast was on IV for dehydration after his illness. I did not see any indication on a projection of how "healed" Frager is.

Yeah I heard Brian Christopherson on 1620 a little bit ago. Mast was taken to the ER Wednesday night for the IV. Sounds like he's lost some weight. On Frager they said his initial diagnosis was a 2-4 week injury (it's been 8 days). He is supposedly healing faster than anticipated. If either or both play, will be interesting at what level.

Mast was off and sure didn't look anywhere near healthy yet.
Frager was back, performing like he had never missed a day. Considering how that injury looked the fact that he only missed two games and came back as he did is amasing

Illinois is good and playing at another level compared to when the Huskers beat them on their floor.

The white out was much more sucessfull that I thought it would be. Way to go, fans.

Yeah the whiteout looked great on tv. DBK was at the game with her family and posted that she missed the memo. Said she will never again give fans a hard time if they miss a theme. Was pretty funny.

Completely agree on Mast. Hoiberg in the press conference after the game said he was pleased with the minutes but said Mast definitely looked and played like someone that had just been hospitalized a few days ago.

I was shocked how good Frager looked. I was afraid they or he or both rushed him back. Certainly didn't seem like it. Moved well, played well.

Perfect week for us not to have a midweek game. Mast more time to build strength and add back his weight. Plus the stretch where we played top teams every three days and two on the road. Definitely will help the team recharge.

I know it is hindsight and all, but I wonder if they would have been better or not playing Mast? Someone from the bench at 100% "may" have been better than Mast at 50 - 70%. Not going to second-guess Fred at all, and the thought going in was that he was needed. Just wondering though....

Nationally, they have some respect

New rankings out for Monday, and with two losses in the last week to Current #2 Mich and #6 Ill, the Huskers stay in the top 10 on the Coaches poll and fall four spots to #9

Do not see AP out yet

Looks like they are #9 in AP, also with Ill climbing to #5

Yeah even without the injuries I knew we'd eventually have a few losses in conference play. The conference overall is just too good to expect to run the table or have only 1 loss. In my most optimistic state, I think we have two more losses (maybe 3) before conference play concludes.

Nebraska basketball has consistently had players in the top ten for weeks now. I am sure this is being used during recruiting:

Nice to see all the potential recruits... although I always feel winning the game helps the case as far as trying to bring them on.

I'm not really sure in the grand scheme of things (even more so in the NIL era) that is becomes a deciding factor. In the weeks or months later not sure the win is still anywhere the forefront of the decision. It's nice to win when they are here sure, but down the road.....

Creighton had several of their top targets I believe at the UCONN game, and even though they got blow out I don't think it either will be what those kids use to decide whether to become Jays or not.

Hopefully with what has transpired this season and a new AD, Nebraska basketball should be set for the long haul. This has to have opened eyes with the admin down in Lincoln. We've been lucky that some rich donors have come through over the years like Hendricks. Attendance should have shown the admin how invested fans have been.

Honestly, is there a better fan base anywhere than Nebraska men's basketball? Consistently top 20 in attendance and surrounded by teams with much better success over the years.

I think Fred's age is also very advantageous, if we can keep him happy and paid up, he's got a lot of good coaching years left in his career.

Attendance is great right now, but IMO cannot be used as a reason for now upping the anti. The first few years at PBA, it was sold out for all games and very few no shows.

I will buy into that we now have an AD ( probably for the first time) that gives a hoot about Basketball

I meant Nebraska attendance has been consistently good. Many years in the top 20. So the fan support/interest has always been there. It's the support of the AD and admin that hasn't been as good.

Got ya.

The exception to attendance was the Barry Collier era at least the end,

I have probably shared this before, but I remember two games in Lincoln at the end of Feb / March, a week apart. The weather was basically the same on the two Saturdays, so not a factor. I was at both

One Sat afternoon at The Bob The Huskers were playing a top 5 ranked Texas team and attendance was so bad I am sure everyone could have sat in the floor seats.

THe Other Sat was the Class B Girls State Game that Gretna played in. There were probably three times as many people at the Girls Class B game than the Texas men's game

Hard for me to understand how you do not get more people to a rranked aponant comming to town. THere was a time that was a reason I kept my season tickets so that I could see some great teams live that came into Lincoln

Not surprised by this. They really could have used him against Michigan with Reink out. If he was available we would not have had to use Leo Curtis.

If they do add seats hopefully they go with the maximum possible of 18,500. Even when CHI added seats on top of the end bowl they could have added more if the top deck would have gone down further.

Nice road win over Rutgers today. 80-68 Score is probably closer than the game really was.

Sixth road conference win this season. As reported and commented everywhere, the Huskers set a new all-time Husker record for road conference wins. Amazing that six wins gets that with all the years of play

Glad to see Mast back to form and play his best game in a long time.

No on to see what happens Tuesday night when Purdue comes to Lincoln. Selfishly so glad it is a 6 PM start rather than 8 PM !!!!!

Nebraska subbed out late so final score was closer than game actually was. I will always take a road win in conference, let alone double digit road win.

Yeah I definitely like the 6PM’s better if attending.

Another injury. Leo Curtis didn’t make the trip. Sounds like he injured an ankle in practice.

Yeah you can definitely add quite a bit more on the one end. Would be awesome to see this happen.
