Possible new high rise. Great area that is rapidly changing and developing:

16th & Broadway by VeLa Development and EPC.

The development is planned to be split into 3 phases with the first phase consisting of a 33-story apartment tower with 392 apartments and 481 parking spaces. Hope to get PortKC incentive approval in 2 weeks.

Looks like maybe around 400 feet tall ? And as we are all familiar with a proposal and actually getting built are two very different things. If this gets built it will be the tallest building built in KC in over 20 years.

This looks to be on a fast track to get built. I am cautiously optimistic on it. It will really stand out as there is nothing close to it in height on that part of downtown.

Probably closer to the 350 range. Residential floors aren't as tall as office floors, usually averaging around 9 feet these days.

It has the most serious development team of any of the currently proposed towers in downtown KC besides Cordish’s Four Light. Notably one of the development firms behind this was started by the most senior Cordish execs who were not members of the actual Cordish family.

Phase 2 (Hotel) and Phase 3 (office) were announced this week. Phase 1 is targeting a fall ground breaking. This is a rare case where the marquee tower is expected to be built first.

Was there a height associated with the tower? The first rendering makes it look like it'll be towards the top end of what KC currently has.

A tower that looks like this, even if shorter, would look so much better than the planned Beam on the riverfront.

Agreed. KC's tower reminds me of one of Omaha's pre-Children's Museum proposals for the Beam site.

It will seem even taller sitting up on that hill and because of what's around it will be visible from quite aways away.

I was amazed how much the new Children's Mercy added to the skyline. Not the tallest of towers but up on it's own on that hill it was a dramatic change to downtown KC as you drive in and around it.

Port KC board gave their blessing for incentives. Hoping to break ground on all phases before the end of the year now. Office tenant is ready to take all or nearly all of the Phase 3 office component.
