Time to turn the page

Two notable players who have contributed significantly have entered the transfer portal.

Cayden Brumbaugh - second baseman
Cael Frost - Outfield

Also entering the transfer portal, but had little impact on the 2025 season.

A new addition to the staff for Husker Baseball was announced today.

Not sure what to think of this. Hope it is a positive and works, but isn't player development an HC's responsibility? I guess more can be better, but I want to see how this plays out and fits in.

Pitched for Texas A&M from 2004-07 when Childress was HC for the last two years of this time. The rest of his experience can be seen at the link included

The first game of the season is today against UConn in Scottsdale, AZ, in the MLB Desert Invitational.

Four games. In addition to Uconn They play
Northestern on Sat
Grand Canyon on Sun
and Stanford on Mon

Watched it on MLB and have to see for the first game of the year, they played a pretty complete game.

10 Run ruled them too.

Little suprised that Ty Horn threw 99 pitches for the first outing of the season

Now on to Northestern at7:30 CST tonight

The tournaments, if they're called that, are called the MLB Desert Invitational. There are 8 teams, each playing four games. IT is held on the spring training fields of MLB teams.

This is why the games are on MLB Network or streamed by MLB

I believe this is the 6th or 7th year for this event. The Huskers played in this last year, too.

12-2 over UConn in 7 Innings ( 10 run rule)
7-4 Over Northeastern
9-1 Over Grand Canyon
Play Stanford today at 2 PM Cent

Now they've dropped 3 in a row. Yesterday, they lost to Louisville 4-2 and tonight, they lost to Kansas State 5-3. Not good.

Unfortunately, they didn't do so great today. They lost 15-4. The game ended after the 7th. Blecchh! Stagburn it!

Yeah it's always a later start to home games for teams up north. Technically still winter here.

Nice to see this win. Nebraska hasn't had the best play against Omaha lately.

Nebraska had a weather delay today, but they eventually resumed play against Michigan State. Nebraska did pretty well for most of the game. But then Michigan State came back and tied it up at 4 in either the 9th. But Nebraska won on a walkoff run 5-4 in the 10th.

As a Husker season ticket holder, I received an email allowing me to buy all-session tickets in advance of the public sale starting soon for the B1G baseball tournament in Omaha. Just bought my tickets. If you are a season ticket hold look for the email. I was able to select some great seats behind home plate in row 5 for the whole tournament.

I watched most if it on ESPN + It was some of the better mid week piching I have seen by the Huskers in a while
