Regardless they could really change the current narrative with a win tonight. For whatever reason, the atmosphere at UCONN of late hasn't been great despite their season. I saw Hurley questioning why there are open seats at their games.
I was not as surprised as the rest of you. I think UCONN (players not coaches) got caught looking past the Jays (or at least underestimating them) due to the big win they had in Omaha.
Now, on to St. Johns. Another great opportunity. St John's also has a good size win in the bag, plus they have UCONN immediately after Creighton. You can be though Pitino will be talking to his team a lot about last nights game.
I thought it was possible to beat UConn, but after the Jays' dreadful showing the past few games and how poorly they handled UConn in Omaha, it was hard to see it happening for me. These are the best, when you are expecting a loss and you pull off the upset.
First Top 5 road win for Creighton since the Nova game in 2014 where Wragge went wild.

Creighton assistant Trey Zeigler, was the lead recruiter for Richardson and built a strong relationship throughout the process. According to Richardson, the consistency of that communication played a major role in the decision.

College basketball is getting out of hand. This is just completely ridiculous.
I would truly hate to be a college basketball coach the way the players are free agents whenever they want to be. There needs to be some sort of salary cap. This is way out of control. In this day and age, no team is safe ever. Your star player can transfer anytime they want.
Makes me really appreciate guys like Ryan Kalkbrenner.
I seriously wonder if Mac hangs ‘em up after this season..I’ve always believed when Huss was brought on last year, Mac would stay on a HC for 2 more seasons..After the way this year ended up (15-16 regular season) and tiring of the recruiting stress etc..I would say there is at least a 50% probability he’s finished after this year. I have a friend who feels Mac will come back for one more season as he wouldn’t like to go out the way this season played out..
Perhaps if the Jays have a stellar showing in the Big East Tournament, that may sway his decision to return..

I follow but am not a Jays "fan" per say. I think he will be back for one more year. My belief is he will want a chance at ending his time with a year not like this one. No guarantees, but I think he can end strong, and this season is the one-off.

I have no idea, but I believe like you, I think it kind of depends how they finish in the Big East tournament. I do think he’ll be back for one more year though.

A possible Crown Tournament invite.. I’m glad to hear they would play if invited..
But agree..it’s been a LONG season and highly forgettable.. But the hope is, if Mac stays or if Alan Huss takes over, the Jays can hit on a couple of good portal transfers; this can really influence how a new season plays out (this years Husker team is a perfect example of this)…

John Bishop after the Creighton loss didn't seem to think Creighton would get an at large. He seemed to think the only way the Jays would get the invite is if they got one of the 2 spots the Big East was guaranteed for. He indicated most likely Providence. But Seton Hall works too. Hopefully the season continues.

I had read that Oklahoma had turned down postseason play becuase it did not make the NCAA after receiving an NIT invite. The $$$ paid for this to players must carry a little weight

Listening to the Coach Mac press conference from earlier today. His comments really seemed to center on the idea that he was tired of dealing with NIL and the transfer portal and peaced out, not necessarily ruling out coaching elsewhere in the future after some personal time.
Ben Jacobsen, who has been the coach at UNI since McDermott left there to go to IA ST and then Creighton, is leaving UNI to become the new head coach at Utah St. Crazy that he would leave now after 20 years.
