I can’t say I’m surprised. Every time I was there it seemed like I was the only customer in the store.Brad wrote: Mon Apr 30, 2018 4:48 pm Akin's Natural Foods closing Nebraska stores

Should I interpret this as another sign of the great economy? I'm thinking not so much.
Yes moving and expanding, their job training will be here.Busguy2010 wrote: Sat Dec 21, 2019 11:24 am I would assume that means the one on the east side of 84th is moving here.
Or it could be interpreted as people are donating used goods they replaced with new.GrandpaaSmucker wrote: Sat Dec 21, 2019 10:52 amShould I interpret this as another sign of the great economy? I'm thinking not so much.
They are doing to $1.2m renovation to Canfield's .
What is it with MegaSavers? What keeps them in business and how do they keep buying up property to add more stations?Ben wrote: Mon May 03, 2021 12:57 pm Per Grow Omaha, much of this development has changed hands. The former Akin's store will be replaced by a MegaSaver convenience mart and gas station.
Omaha is built on cars, gas stations and their convenient stores do well here with the right location, which is practically everywhere. They started off in value locations, but maybe they have investment from outside sources since they have been in the market for a while now and are pretty established with valuable locations.Louie wrote: Mon May 03, 2021 1:47 pmWhat is it with MegaSavers? I don't care what they are selling inside, but I can't stand it when they let their property look like |expletive|. I’ve heard that the owner is one of the worst, most ruthless employers in town too. Yeah, when I was a liquor rep the guys that went serviced those stores hated the management. And the East side has a steep slopeBusguy2010 wrote: Mon May 03, 2021 9:20 pm So Akins was on the east end of the building closest to the corner of 84th & Center. I fail to see how that could be turned into a gas station. It would be unconventional to say the least.
Yeah you're right. That one was built too.
I'm a dude and I avoid that place like the plague.PWL73316 wrote: Tue May 04, 2021 3:17 pm I know a large number of people, especially women, that won't go to a MegaSaver at all. I think T&P4L got subsumed into MS. I know 108 @ Q did. I agree--I have no need to patronize them, so I don't.ChadJK wrote: Wed May 05, 2021 10:22 am I equate MegaSaver with the "Tobacco & Phones 4 Less" chain (which I don't think is around anymore). Just horrible employees delivering horrible customer service in stores I don't feel comfortable being in. At least, that was my experience. As always, YMMV. Honestly, with more preferable chains in town like Kum & Go, QuikTrip, Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh Express, and Casey's I just have no need to ever patronize MegaSaver.
I must not be current on the local convenience store gossip. It doesn't help that I let my subscription to Nebraska Convenience Store Journal expire.Busguy2010 wrote: Wed May 05, 2021 7:51 pm I thought it was well known MegaSaver is TP4L. Nothing more than a name change.
