Omaha Central library (SWC 72 & Dodge)

Spent some time on the third floor genealogy section last week (4th generation Omahan)——-great library in an iconic building located in the perfect place.

There is a “Omaha Central library “sign on top of the retaining wall right along Dodge Street by east entrance. Not too big the letters might be a foot tall? 18 inches?

I have yet to go inside but this signage isn't particularly compelling as one drives by. It's sort of blends in and there's apparently no associated lighting? I don't want to sound like the boo birds on Reddit but that unfinished concrete retaining wall isn't the most attractive either. This look seems to be popular with developers these days :/ I'm sure once they get some proper greenery in there providing a needed warmer contrast may also help the signage. Of course a little lighting would help too.

I guess I’m a 5th generation if you count Forrest City (Gretna), Sarpy County, ca. 1867.

City Garden at Central Library is getting a mini-makeover

Starting Wednesday, June 10, the courtyard area will temporarily close for approximately three weeks so construction crews can make improvements based on how the public uses the space.

That didn't take long. I will be curious to see what they change.
