I legitimately appreciate both of your replies. Like I said, I don't quite understand it or really what the objective of Musk is right now.

I know I'm not alone in that I used to appreciate(I think that's the best word) Musk prior to all his bull with Twitter. His unveiling of the Tesla Model 3 was awkward, but you were kind of pulling for him. The Tesla Supercharger network is hands down the best thing for EVs to charge on the go.

What does all this accomplish for him and Tesla? Is he really just a lucky idiot similar to our dear leader and his true colors are friend colored?

Currently it is accomplishing the Tesla stock to trade at $350 some dollars despite a decline in vehicle sales and turning off their primary owner demographic, and a spike in his memecoin after the election, as well as unlimited free publicity for it. In the future it could accomplish guaranteed government contracts with inflated subsidies for Tesla, SpaceX, and his AI company. Or it could accomplish full control of the budget if they continue to stomp on the constitution and bypass congress. A full coup is not out of the question based on the stuff they are saying.

Musk is a cringey guy that makes obvious online jokes that are funny to 14 year olds, is incredibly insecure based on the things he says and lies about, but he’s not stupid. He has the ability to make shrewd business decisions and is willing to take risks that others would not.

Here's an absoutely fantastic read on the "evolution" of Musk over the last decade or so. It's really quite incredible:

That was a great listen. She didn't pull any punches and calling Musk the smartest 15 year old boy is perfect.

Guarantee this is a lie, they might delay but federal funds will continue to flow to Musk.

Yep. Most of what Musk does wherever - private or govt - is for Musk. Just like you posted about his $56 billion pay package.

Was by the Walmart on 180th & Center last night. Must have been longer than I would have guessed, since I had been that way becuase they are well underway with installing a series of EV charging stations. From what I could see through the construction fence, there are at least 10 stations being installed. They are going on the West side of the parking towards the side closest to Lowe's. Not at the edge of the lost but one step of rows into the lot
For the record  NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER    !!!!!!!

They are one of the first in the area installing ultra fast 400 kW chargers. Many Walmarts will have them going forward and this will be huge for the infrastructure of charging.

They will be putting in more at a few others in the area. https://www.walmart.com/cp/ev/9145505

For comparison, Tesla Superchargers are around 250 kW. Very few cars can even charge at that single 400kW charger speed, but it will help with more adoption.

Anyone have or know someone who has a BMW iX? I know BMW is phasing it out in America and changing to iX3,iX5, etc. models, but have heard amazing things about this car from people who have owned is for multiple years and 50,000+ miles. They've raved about it's range, reliability, tech, and comforts.

Nice! The R2S Performance is the other one we are considering. What is your expected delivery date?

For anyone else with an EV, the Tesla Supercharger in Percival, IA (Nebraska City exit off I-29) recently opened at Sapp Brothers. Will make for another easy hop on/hop off charging option when heading down I-29....

That's great to hear. If someone would just install a working CCS or Tesla gen4 in St. Joseph, I'd be free of range anxiety with my little Bolt. I drive to KC so rarely that it seems stupid to buy a new car just to do it easily.

There are now both V2 and V3.5 (V4 hardware, V3 cabinets) IIRC at that Hy-Vee in St Joe.

Based on halgy's comment I'm assuming they're aware of the St. Joe's supercharger, but a bolt can't charge there... V2s aren't accessible to non-Tesla's and at mixed sites like St. Joe is now, they haven't opened them up to non-Tesla's presumably to avoid confusion on the V2s...

The CCS chargepoint in St. Joe's has been getting pretty good reviews as far as uptime goes recently. I know historically it had been unreliable.

Correct. I have the adapter, but it only works at v3+ sites, and only if Tesla allows (I just double checked; the Percival site shows as available, but St. Joe's doesn't). And for CCS, the Chargepoint site only has one port, which makes it a gamble. I see there are a few dealership ones available now as backup, but I don't really want to rely on them, either.

The Pilot Tesla charger is exactly what I want going forward. Fast chargers shouldn't be hidden away in a city core, they should be along the highways. Truck stops or roadside restaurants would be ideal, as they have things to do for 15+ minutes while charging. But until then, I'd be happy with St. Joe allowing non-Teslas.

Someone at work has one, they love it, but they're also loaded, it is well over $100k. I drove an ix3 at an event here a few weeks ago and plunked down my $1k deposit a few days later. Absolutely loved it.
