when i drove home the other night, all the floors that have started interior work changed the look of the lighting during the night hours. It doesn't look like you can see through the building anymore, at least up to floors 15 or 20

Tower looks kinda cool so long as you're not looking at it's, um, undercarriage, but it doesn't really move the needle much for us a city.

If we were creating low-rise masterpieces like Barcelona has, that would be one thing, but all modern architecture these days is boring as heck, so the only way to excite anyone is with height.

I don't fully understand why you're both poo-pooing aspirational urban design. What does biking between towns in Italy have to do with the price of tea in China? Density does bring vibrancy and Barcelona does it well. Even without Euro-style transit and regional population, density and vibrancy go together well. Nothing wrong with trying to manifest it even if the idea of Omaha and good urban design is somehow exhausting.

Same spot, but I decided to make it Black and White. I did Black and White film in High School and College, but now with digital I sometimes forget about Black and White...

KMTV city cam at Harrah’s has been down for the past couple days. Frustrating, that’s the only camera which provides a view of the east face of the building. Has all the glass been put up where the construction elevator was by now?

No,. The two photos above are from Friday Afternoon, I doubt they did too much more since then? Also, what the photos don't show is that they haven't filled in the garage portion yet, they skipped up to 16 and started filling in where the elevator was.

As I was looking at KMTV web cam this morning they are working on the building right now at 5:23am. I think it’s being worked on 7 days a week.

not to mention they are really closing up the elevator gaps on the east exterior.

One thing i noticed with some of the cloudy/rainy days recently is that the gentle curve of the facade catches the reflection of the clouds in a very cool way. It's harder to notice when it's purely sunny but it's a nice effect when it isn't.

They’ve been working two and three shifts at least six days a week since the beginning. I remember when the building was only a few floors tall and the crane was first put up and they were working till after 10 o’clock at night. That said this morning (Sunday), when I got downtown at 7 AM they were already working up on the 16th St. patio.

So many great shots! it's hard to pick a favorite, but I think 2. will be the most repeated one people try to take themselves. Looks like there is some algae in the reflecting pool on #2, but it doesn't matter. I'm so glad the GLM is updated now.

I don't think that's algae. I think that's the reflection of the clouds.

Here are some photos from this afternoon. I was told they are hoping to have the crane down this week if everything goes smooth. The will lower it far enough where the 600 Ton mobile crane can grab the arm and the mobile will dismantle the rest. The first tie back should be taken out tomorrow. They only got 1 section down today.

1. One of the last remaining CNW locomotives passing through downtown this afternoon with the Mutual Tower in the background and the crane already coming down.

I am sure they have solutions for all kinds of weather scenarios but has to be a bit unnerving to have the arm that close to the building with some decent wind coming.

You're welcome. Sounds like 'only' 60-70mph winds and the tower would be blocking most of the wind as these storms are coming from the west to the east.

Just curious as to why the rest of that white "crown" hasn't been finished for a while now? Could that by chance be the missing 11" I've read about to bring the tower to 688'? I see all of this stuff on how these buildings are actually measured. Like the architectural height vs the actual spec sheets and who is doing the measuring etc. etc. Mike

They were using the window washing crane to work on taking down the tower crane a couple days ago and it looked like the safety railing would have been in the way. Secondly, that safety railing is way more than 11” tall. Third, the section the architect calls the crown is two stories tall, not 11”.

The logo is on the 16th floor.
