Interesting. One of my childhood chums from elementary school called the existing house his home, back in the 1960s and 70s. His mother was quite the gardener and planted numerous flowers and vegetables on the terraced parts of that steep yard.

The development, proposed for 7630 Pacific Street, would include 34 apartments and 34 parking spaces. The building would stand taller than neighboring office buildings.

The 34-unit building will include amenity space in the back and a 34-car garage. The existing house on the property is expected to be demolished soon to make way for the development.

I always have to wonder where they find critics of these types of developments. 34 units and parking spots and yet they are concerned about irrevocable changes to the character of the neighborhood? Loveland is more "country feeling"? Really? 84th and Dodge is Country? I would venture to guess that this apartment building will have absolutely no impact on the vast majority of the residents of the neighborhood. Mind you, the area is bounded by the large towers of the Methodist and Children's medical centers as well as a multi-story apartment/condo building to the north, NFM to the east, 72nd and dodge is just down the street. But 5 floors is apparently a towering monstrosity.

I'm cool with this. Given that i think its the only home fronting Pacific between 69th and 78th. You can call that stretch commercial, not residential. So if anything, the house doesn't fit the "character of the neighbor. Not just that, but those homes north from there really dont "fit the area" either, as for years the trend in that area has been to tear down the old 50's, non-descript ranch and split levels and turn them into modern mansions. Wouldn't care at all if they became row houses.

It's also been used commercially for years. That garage that fronts Pacific does car detailing.
