Yard House (SEC of 192nd & West Dodge Rd)

I heard a rumor that a new restaurant called the "Yard House" is coming to Omaha. I have been to the one in Kansas City, once. I would definitely go back. Does anyone have any more information on this?

Yes, there is one coming... it was mentioned elsewhere (I think also on Grow Omaha's site).

Yard House apparently plans to open its first Omaha-area restaurant in the Avenue One district southeast of 192nd & West Dodge Road, according to a City of Omaha building permit dated June 3. The free-standing building would be located at 19051 Davenport Street and would include an outdoor patio. Founded in California in 1996, Yard House has about 100 restaurants nationwide with the closest existing ones in Kansas City.

One of the earlier rendering for Crossroads showed a Yard House. Maybe that will still happen and I think it would be a good fit there. If not, case in point of Avenue One's cannibalization. As for a location downtown, I would much rather give my money to Y.H.(especially given their scratch kitchen) than any of the gaggle of garbage bar/restaurants downtown that identify as "sports bars". However, I honestly think there would need to be more consistent foot traffic, events, and etc for something with the square footage of most Y.H. locations.

My only real complain with Y.H. is that for a place that has like 100 taps the beer selection could be a lot better. I know that sounds odd but I get the sense they buy too much beer from the same suppliers to get optimal pricing which also means too many of the taps are taken up by beers that the supplier forces on them. Besides the usual suspects of |expletive| and |expletive| light, it's mostly macro craft beer(New Belgium, Sierra Nevada, Dog Fish, Blvd) with a handful of Belgians.
