Didn't expect this to happen, especially with their existing store at 175th & Center St. Although that is a bit of a drive... would think they'd build closer to Elkhorn.

Perhaps if they're going in that means some other bigger names will follow suit. They must like being located near Bakers grocery stores, LOL.

4.5 miles from the West Center location and 5 miles from the rumored Gretna Landing location. I'm now wanting a Raising Cane's or similar at one of these two new locations.

Rumor was Cane's was suppose to go in at Gretna Landing because Chick-Fil-A backed out. There's still a developmental plat online showing the Cane's location right at the NW corner of 192nd & 370. That map hasn't been updated for quite some time and no one is really talking much about the rumored big box store that could end up where Fleet Farm was going to go.

Guess we'll have to wait and see!

I'd take Cane's over Chick-Fil-A. IMO, neither one have amazing chicken, but I prefer Cane's.

Nonetheless, they must start with the dumpster and then move on to the drive-thru lanes... eventually getting to the restaurant itself.

i don't live out there, but it's hard to get excited about chick-fil-a anymore. I'm sure it's going to make a lot of people happy, but it seems like there have been a ton of them opening around here lately.

Same thought here - although I don't feel we have "a lot" of them in Omaha... but probably enough. I'm assuming they're trying to follow the money/growth in the area... I'd still like to see a Cane's over near Gretna Landing, however I'm getting a bit burnt out on their food as well.

New to market fast food would be nice - In N Out, something else Mexican (ie, Taco Bueno), or something unique to the area. Just seems to be the same stuff over and over (Panda Express, Freddy's, so on and so forth).

Would be nice to get one of those - wasn't there chatter of a Shake Shack coming to Omaha? I can't find anything about it since the initial mention. I've never had it, but something new would be nice.

They are almost never as good as a chef owned restaurant. And they are typically more expensive, lacking seasonal menus and food originating from local suppliers.
Having recently spent a few weeks in Europe I noticed that once you leave airports (and to a lesser extent train stations) there are virtually no chain restaurants. And almost no “fast food” places. And believe me the local spots are so much better.

Not sure where you are referring to in Europe but there are plenty of fast food restaurants in the cities there that I visited. I am referring primarily to England and Spain. I just decided to look up a country I hadn't been to and is known for fine dining. France has almost 1,600 McDonalds and over 600 Burger Kings (those are the only chains I checked).

I wouldn't same I am "fixated" on fast food, nor honestly do I know anyone I would attach that label to. I do it eat some, normally for on the go convenience when I am busy. I do enjoy it. I would say in general it is cheaper than your average chef owned restaurants (especially when using the company apps).

If we got out for sit down it's usually to a Mom and Pop place, same if we are planning takeout in advance, though honestly we have been cooking at home more now than we have in years.
