I will never understand how these parking lots get approved without a few trees and plants dividing them up. Not only does it look nicer but helps with safety and keeps the takeover kids away.
Mixed use plans require a landscape plan to be submitted with them. They must use city approved trees.
On page 9 of the Kensington Park Mixed use, plan (Link Below) you will see the landscape plan. On the Baker's lot, they show and island every 10 parking stalls and every island has a tree in it. All the streets are also lined with trees. Trees are usually planted after construction is complete so they are not damaged during construction.
