Omaha Skyline in 2050

For the fun of it I used AI (the new model from Google found here: https://labs.google/fx/tools/image-fx) and had it create the Omaha skyline in 2050. I thought it did pretty good. Obviously it's missing several buildings including the new MoO tower but certainly not bad. Particularly impressive was how it was relatively accurate with the First National tower. Of course the placement of the river relative to the buildings is wrong, etc. This "looks like" a view to the east which means the river would be behind the buildings not to the right of them - but oh well.

It's honestly impressive how the architectural style is actually somewhat plausible in future Omaha, plus, like you mentioned, the First National Bank Tower being perfectly placed. Good rendering, AI!

After discussions with Shanghai officials, I expect to borrow two of Shanghai's signature towers for a few years. Therefore, I took one of Brad's recent photos in the Mutual of Omaha thread, added these two towers plus a look at what if the Nebraska State capitol would have been built in downtown Omaha.

The other benefit of moving the capitol to Omaha are the collection of ancillary state office buildings that would need to be downtown.

As cool as the Pearl Tower is it looks out of place here and I've never been a fan of the Shanghai World Financial Center which frankly looks like a Sharper Image appliance. I've always thought it would've been cool for Omaha to have an art deco skyscraper and the capitol looks great in context. If we get another skyscraper in my lifetime I hope it takes a cue from NYC's deco revival.

I don't have the ability to do so, but someone with more expertise could play with the map and have buildings of significant height on the parcels outlined below

The Shanghai Financial Center is affectionately called "the bottle opener" in Shanghai. I actually like that building, maybe because I dream of flying a drone through the opening. I also think that art deco skyscapers are generally attractive.

I tried to add a 550-foot skyscraper on the lot between 14th and 15th and Capitol. If I'm not mistaken, the middle one of your red squares is already taken up by the new Mutual of Omaha tower. I did not try to add a building to your 3rd red lot on the map, which would be just south of the Mutual of Omaha tower. However, adding just one 550-foot tower really makes a difference to the skyline.

That would be a great lot to have a 300-footer (or higher of course). I don't have any expectations though. If I have some time tomorrow evening, I'll play with it a little more.
