Rob Anderson/Creighton wrote:OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton Volleyball team is ranked 13th in the AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Preseason Poll, which was released on Monday, Aug. 10. This is the 10th time in the past 11 seasons the Jays have been ranked in the preseason, and 15th straight campaign that Creighton has spent at least one week in the Top 25.
Rob Anderson/Creighton wrote:Today's announcement marks the 12th time in the last 14 seasons that the Bluejays have earned a spot in the preseason poll. Today's No. 13 slotting ties its fourth-best preseason ranking in program history, trailing only its No. 9 selection prior to the 2017 campaign and its No. 12 preseason pick in both 2024 and 2025. The Jays were also 13th in 2018, when they finished the year 13th.

The three transfers from Texas, Wisconsin, and Kansas highlighted by Ayden Ames makes this upcoming season intriguing. The transfer outside hitter from Wisconsin is Trinity Shadd-Ceres. Soon arriving at Creighton this past Spring, she became a First Team All-American in the long jump for Creighton's track team.

The team again plays one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country beginning August 28 when they play Purdue, Minnesota, and USC on back to back to back. days.

After three weekends of volleyball, this team seems to be stuck at being out of sync. Although they began the season last year not playing well with a new setter and freshman hitter, they showed improvement each week and by the time they played Nebraska, they were able to take the match to five sets. This season seems to be very UN-Creighton-like with serving inconsistency, back-row defense, setting, and pin hitting, leading to a very low team hitting percentage. The highlight for this season so far as been Ayden Ames, the middle blocker who transferred from Texas and the improvement of the other middle blocker who had transferred from Ohio State one year earlier.

When the season started I thought it might be a top five match up. With Creighton's losses recently that isn't the case. I was pleased to see Creighton is still ranked at #20.

I was a bit surprised to see that they are still ranked that high. I was expecting something more like #25. It will be interesting to see how the team progresses throughout the year, and if they are still able to win the Big East.

Nebraska better have their full attention on Creighton tonight. No quicker way for Creighton to change the narrative on their season (and especially their recent slide) than to finally beat NU.

That would certainly change the narrative. :) For this year, I'll be pleased if Creighton scores at least 20 points each set. In addition to Creighton struggling, I think that this year's Nebraska team is one of Nebraska's best ever teams.

One way to look at it is that Nebraska had their full attention

25-13
25-15
25-19
For the record  NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER    !!!!!!!

I watched part of the game and listened to part. At the start of the 3rd game, Creighton was trying different things including going to a 6-2 system. John Cook mentioned this during the broadcast when it happened, and thought this might be a direction they want to go based on their talent. I follow his predecessor Terry Pettit on Facebook. In his notes after the game, he too expressed that he thinks Creighton is better suited for a 6-2 system. They said this independent of each other as Terry was at the game watching it live when John said it on air.

If those two both are noticing it, hopefully Creighton's coach gives it a shot. Something is not working currently for them. They've now dropped to 5 and 5.
