E-bike Survey

Post by almighty_tuna »

Bike/Walk Nebraska has a survey going through September for area residents to express their opinions on e-bikes and how to address them. I took the opportunity to urge them to embrace the transportation shift and advocate for more east/west transportation lanes that are dedicated/protected for e-bikes. Upcoming projects like Maple St and Industrial/Center lane expansions are great opportunities to include protected lanes for bikes and e-bikes as those streets already have wide existing ROWs.

Take 5min and advocate instead of just complaining on an internet forum!

I do think there’s a distinction between pedal assist e-bikes and a lot of these others that are fully automatic and go at crazy high speeds

Acknowledging that definition is literally the very first thing on the survey.

Its funny how generally e-bikes are something we all agree on. Motorist hates Bicyclists> bicyclist hates e-bike motorist. I at least I know as someone either walking or biking the trail not trying to break any speed records, avid bicyclists and e-motorists are hated equally. Literally the brand spanking new season 29 episode 1 of South Park is about this struggle. E-motorists give us all someone new to hate, but spandex wearing 25 mph, head down cyclists, dont forget youre still right at the top. Thankfully, due to all this construction, I dont think ive stepped foot on the trail in over a year.

I took a survey about this some time ago. If it all ends up the same place I won't go and take this one.
