Hopefully they can incorporate some ground level retail in this building (similar to Blackstone Plaza). This building creates a dead zone right across the street from The Orpheum.

This will probably produce upwards of 350 apartments. Great additional project.

Nice! This is awesome news. Great big windows on some of those floors, and a new renovation inside will probably be pretty nice. Seconding the hope for some ground level retail/office space, but even if that doesn't occur, the density will be great.

East building had 10 floors of office space, and the sf of the upper floors gets smaller as you go up.
Plus the central part of the complex is a very large atrium.
Might be tough to squeeze 350 apartments in there.

Wow, I remember when this building was new (the taller one) It was a surface parking lot before, so this building was an improvement over the parking lot.

Grow Omaha quotes the square footage of the two buildings totaling to about 380,000 sqft. Looking at First National Center conversion, they got 294 apartments out of around 350k sqft, so maybe more around 300.

Between this and CPP (Duo) I’m kinda surprised Omaha can support this many new apartments Downtown. When house prices here are relatively affordable compared to other Metro’s.

They took some space in the BCBS building in Aksarben maybe a year ago.

Electric Avenue?

I was thinking about the history here and most of those names associated with this block probably don't sound too appealing to from a modern residential marketing perspective.

Some of the early retailers included; The Bennett Company, Orkin Brothers and The Burgess-Nash Company. Next door was The Boyd Theatre, which adjoined to The Burgess-Nash's "Cricket Room", a "refreshment station" on the first floor.

Perhaps, something like The Burgess Block or The Boyd?

I wouldn't be surprised if they went with something short and more generic like "The Block", "Power 16" or "The Volt".

If there ends up being a bar/restaurant for part of the retail components, The Cricket would be a nice homage.
