Broadway season tickets on sale at the Lied Center later today



LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Season tickets for the 2024-2025 Broadway shows at the Lied Center for Performing Arts in Lincoln go on sale Tuesday at 11 a.m. Back to the Future, Beetlejuice, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Dear Evan Hansen, and a two-week run of huge show yet to be announced will make up the 2024-2025 Glenn Korff Broadway Series. Five-show Broadway packages start at $228. Broadway subscribers also get first access to Annie and Rent in Concert as package add-ons. The first show in the lineup is Dear Evan Hansen Sept. 27-29. “We’re so thrilled to bring the best of Broadway to Lincoln and to Nebraska,” Bill Stephan, Executive Director at the Lied Center said. “Having these amazing show titles that brings so much joy and excitement a great time for families to get together.

Comedy taking over the Lied Center for Performing Arts with several shows coming up



The Lied Center for Performing Arts is brining several comedy shows to the Capital City this spring. First off, Dixie’s Tupperware Party is underway right now and runs until May 5 at the Carson Theater. It’s an off-Broadway show that is an actual Tupperware party. The show is recommend for people age 16 and older. Other shows include Whose Live Anyway happening Thursday night. Finally, Awesome 80′s Prom runs June 6-8 at the Rococo Theater and stand up comedian Hasan Minhaj takes the Lied Center main stage on June 20. “I think we all enjoy laughing and we need to laugh,” Lied Center Executive Director Bill Stephan said. “There’s so much stress in our in our daily lives and what a great time to be with friends and family to let loose and laugh and just enjoy themselves.”

Lied Center announces 35th anniversary 2024-2025 season



LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lied Center’s 2024-2025 season will feature more than 35 events including top artists and ensembles from around the world. “Featuring exceptional evenings of music, theater, dance, comedy, illusion, and much more, the thrilling 35th anniversary season at the Lied is a celebration for all of Nebraska,” said Bill Stephan, Lied Center executive director. Create Your Own Season packages go on sale to the public at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14 at liedcenter.org, by phone at (402) 472-4747, and in-person at the Lied Center box office. Patrons can select any five or more shows in the season and receive a discount of 20% off the entire order.

We can finally share the news... we're BUILDING THE FUTURE of the Lied Center!
Today marked official groundbreaking on Building the Future, a $35 million privately funded addition and renovation to Nebraska’s Performing Arts Center. The project will include an iconic new entrance along Q Street, enhanced lobbies, a new studio theater, and numerous other enhancements.
All the details on the project, including renderings of the new and renovated spaces, are available at liedcenter.org/future.
“For over 35 years, the Lied Center has transformed lives and created memories that last a lifetime,” said Bill Stephan, Executive Director and Chief Artistic Officer of the Lied Center. “This project ensures the Lied Center is positioned for the future so we can continue thrilling audiences, inspiring young people and serving as one of the very best places to experience the ‘Good Life’ in Nebraska.”
Construction will occur over an 18 month period, with an anticipated completion date of fall 2027. Lied Center performances and programs will continue throughout construction.

The project includes both an addition and renovation:

Addition: An approximately 11,150-square-foot addition will be constructed. On the building’s north side,the addition will include a new studio theater for performances, workshops, arts education classes and rehearsals, allowing independent activities to take place even when a national touring performance is taking place in the Lied Center’s main hall. The addition also includes a dressing room, a shared foyer for the new studio theater, enhanced Lied Commons and a new donor lounge. A new entry lobby with ticket office will be constructed on the south side of the building, along with the new entrance.
The Lied Center’s current venue spaces are dedicated to season performances, rental events, and special programs. The Building the Future project will strengthen the Lied Center’s connection to the community and to the university by creating a new studio theater that is ideal for K-12 and Husker student performances.

Renovation: Approximately 25,250 square feet across all three levels will be updated to enhance lobbies and improve circulation and accessibility.​
Upon completion of the project, the Lied's economic impact is estimated to grow to over $23.4 million annually. (American's for the Arts Economic Prosperity 6)

Gifts to the Building the Future project were made through the University of Nebraska Foundation. The renovation and expansion are a priority of Only in Nebraska: A Campaign for Our University’s Future, a historic effort to engage 150,000 unique benefactors to raise $3 billion to support the University of Nebraska.

HDR is the architect for the Building the Future project, and the construction manager is The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company. Project consultants are Theatre Projects and Threshold.
