Whats with the wall coming down at 132nd and L?
Just noticed the huge wall everyone hated is being dismantled. Was there a structural issue, or is there going to be a change?

It is a structural issue. It was recently reported as unstable and so they are reassembling the wall.

Here is the story from the Saturday OWH
Here is the story from the Saturday OWH
An Oakview Construction manager said the wall has shown instability, shifting and sliding slightly over the past 18 months. It needs to be taken down and the situation assessed. Then the wall will go back up, he said.
"Everybody felt it was in the best interests to remove it, replace it before there was a catastrophe," Oakview's Dale Obermiller said Friday

Hopefully they'll assess that it is ugly and needs to be replaced by something more aestthetically pleasing. Perhaps they can implement a pleasent waterfall falling down a terraced wall.

It would be awesome for them to do something else with it. It's a very very ugly wall.

Let it crumble and suck WalMart into a hole, then use the land for something worthwhile.

That would be awesome, but way to innovative for Wal-Mart.TitosBuritoBarn wrote:Perhaps they can implement a pleasent waterfall falling down a terraced wall.
Just think if we had billions of dollars to throw around to improve the city. It would be amazing what we could do.

It would be nice if they do something better than the current wall in there. Sorry Jake, Korn has gone down the path of Metallica, bands that used to rock but now just suck.

Ya, they have the perfect oppurtunity NOW. There was such backlash on the wall they should do something about it.the1wags wrote:It would be nice if they do something better than the current wall in there.

They're going to the little landscape stones... that has to be one of the largest such walls ever made??

Yuck.
They should really hire an artist to paint some sort of mural on this wall.

I think they should have set backs and add some landscaping on those atleast. Maybe even throw in some vines or something to cover the darn thing.

yes, terracing this with some flowers or bushes or something would be infinintely more attractive than this monstrosity.adam186 wrote:I think they should have set backs and add some landscaping on those atleast. Maybe even throw in some vines or something to cover the darn thing.
I don't know who's responsible for the design, but i'd bet wal mart has a hand in it.

Oh those keystone walls can go real big. Theres one in Sioux City behind the HyVee on Gordon drive thats gotta be 50 ft tall, crazy big keystone wall. That being said, I'd also like to see something like setbacks to "break it up" a bit.
