Millard Branch - Douglas County Treasurer

Douglas County is building a new Millard Branch for the Treasurer's Office right in front of Super Saver to open in September.
Included is a new map of the area after construction in late 2007 improves 144th St. and Millard Ave.

That site sits right on a massive hill that leads down to 144th St. I wonder how they are going to incoropate that into the street. Probably either by making a wall fronting the street or the parking lot (probably the parking lot).

The road work is very ambitous but much need. that area was always a mess as far back as I can remember. Growing up a few blocks away, it will be a huge change.

That is what I thought when I saw the plans. They probably will put in a retainment wall (don't ask Wal-Mart/Sam's to help) behind them to the west so as to have immediate access to 144th St. There is quite an incline up to Super Saver at this location.

Nope - I was wrong. They must be leveling 144th along this stretch when they will widen it.

Thanks for the pics. I think you're right about leveling off 144th. I remembering something about removing a hill in the expansion of 144th, but though it was for the part they are working on right from Q to Old L St. I won't even recognize anything in a few years. Millard Ave is the road I've driven the most.

I also was wondering how this will change traffic patterns for Millard - how many people would decide to take 144th St. instead of going down Millard Ave. It will certainly boost the amount of traffic going past this site.

True - but it is the freakin' County Treasurer's Branch building full of CPA's who think that it is adorably square!
