Looks like the American National Bank building east of Tivoli finally has some tenants.
Further east... the medical office building adjoining Lakeside is nearly complete (hey Alegent... next time just add floors to the hospital building from the start).
Mo's Southwestern Grill and Runza are open. I drove through there last night and was a little suprised to find them open already. It was about 7:30 and Runza had maybe 8 people in it and a car in the drive through. THe Grill looked about 1/2 full of people.
The was a cleaning crew working in the Cheeburger - Cheeburger place si it looks like they will be opening soon. It looked close to ready from the outside.
Funny you mention the cranes. We mentione them too and when we did my daughter said WHERE. She thought we were talking abut the "big tractor things" ( her words)
That's been closed for quite some time now as well. I'm surprised Brad hasn't snapped some shots of the new TGI Friday's progress... and another retail building to the north. I suppose TGIF may have a little better success with two restaurants in such close proximity (the other almost due north on Maple)... than Ted's Montana Grill.
Greek Island's closed down after only like 6 months in business out here. I heard their investors were done with it because it wasn't doing the numbers they had planned. But, to give it only 6 months is pretty sad...
I also heard Hoich wasn't a very "nice" person when it came to shutting them down. Since we're right up the street to the east, I noticed the space was first for lease from CBRE, and then within about a month, everything switched over to Lund.
I think Hoich just is a bit confused with what he wants to do with his property. But, I don't think it looks too good to have a tenant less than a year old already closed down, and they left everything inside! Plus, now he has another building up there behind it which is going to be available.
It sucks to see these businesses close down out here so fast; Ted's, Rolly Polly, Greek Island's...
I've also heard Colton's is doing very poorly, which by the lack of visitors I ever see in their parking lot, I wouldn't doubt it. There's been a ton of rumors that the west Upstream is going away, but I've talked to the owners and many closely tied to it which give no indication that's true.
My Gut feel is that Coltons will be around for a while. They have a good product and they do have people there, it is just not a full house.
As for the area, is anyone aware of anyting going on in th old TEDS locations? They had a constuction dumpser out front a few weeks ago and it looked like they were doing a few thing inside. MAy have just been cleanup but it looked like it could be more.

Apparently there was a lot more behind-the-scenes mess than just poor numbers (if numbers were even that "poor") which led to the Greek Islands Café closing. Given that, Hoich had very good reasoning for the way he dealt with the restaurant's closing.
I really like what they're trying to do with Tivoli... but I wonder if there will EVER be a time, when the city can implement design standards which actually make for cohesion among all these different developments... not just in looks, but in how one moves from one area to another. This stretch of West Center has added some nice looking projects, but it's always looked to me, like an overly random 'hodgepodge' of different lines of thinking to me (cue counterpoint from Mr. Novack ).
