Mama's Pizza - West O Location

Heard a rumor last night that Mama's Pizza (an institution on Saddle Creek Road) is opening a location in the strip mall at 156th & Pacific. Anybody else hear about this?

Actually, this is not a rumor..

Last Saturday on Grow Omaha (heard from 8-9AM on 1290 KKAR), co-hosts Jeff Beals and Trenton Magid had the owner of Mama's Pizza, Jeff Harwood, on the show to talk about this new location..According to Harwood, the new location should be open in 6-8 weeks..

Hopefully this won't take anything away from the current Mama's - I love that place.

Just one more example (in my opinion, so don't crucify me) of a business that suburbanites don't dare go east of (take your pick) Street after 5 pm. Good move for the owners though, hope it pans out for them.

Actually during hockey season, a lot of surburanites go to Mama's. It's a popular spot for Mav hockey fans to hit before and after Mav games.

I've found more people on the "east side" refusing to go out west than suburbanites who refuse to head east...

I think Mike's accurate on that one. For all of the talk about people in West O not going East, you hear (and read on this boad) a good number of people that will not go West either (I'd be willing to bet that some will have to because of Cheesecake Factory).

Based on my experience of living here for 31 years, I can easily say that people who live out west will MORE LIKELY travel east, than their counterparts on the east side of town driving out west.

A lot of us that live out west are more familiar with the eastern parts of town than those who stay settled in their downtown or midtown threads.

I grew & lived near the Saddle Creek Target for over 25 years, including buying my first house over there, so I certainly like popping into the Dell, the Old Market and so on, even though I live past 180th St. But, unfortunately it seems like others who don't want to ever have anything to do with living on the west end of town also don't visit a lot of the businesses out this way. We're still part of Omaha and the population can't grow without housing growth.

I think you all have a good point in this observation. Sorry if I pushed your'all buttons on this one, just stating my opinion.
