C&A Industries Inc. has broken ground on quite an impressive looking company heaquarters along 136th and California Streets (noticable when traveling along West Dodge RD)..

From today's W-H:

'The specialized staffing and recruiting firms that make up C&A Industries Inc. have grown to 3,000 employees nationally and more than 350 locally, or almost five times the number of five or six years ago. Now the company is planning a new headquarters.

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled today at the 136th and California Streets site for the new building, which has been designed to ensure it's noticed by West Dodge Road traffic.

"We wanted to make a little bit of a statement," Larry Courtnage said of the five-story, 100,000-square-foot structure. He shares chief executive duties with his wife, Kathy Wolf Courtnage.

Combining brick, glass and metal as well as vertical and curved features, the building was designed by architecture firm Gensler's Denver office working with Holland Basham Architects locally. Gensler's portfolio includes other Omaha headquarters, including Union Pacific's downtown high-rise and the Gallup Organization's riverfront campus.'..

Only 4 lots left in the Bank of the West Business Park (North is on top, West Dodge St on Bottom)

Another Aerial (West Dodge St is on top, North is on bottom)

This will be a great structure in this Business Park.
I just hope the sun doesn't reflect too much off the glass.

I like the glass extention over the roof. There's something about all glass that I love. Very modern.

Wow, I didn't know the BoW Business Park was that big.

Someone needs to post a current photo... the glass is really looking impressive (especially at dusk). This is the kind of look I'll bet the DSM folks would have liked to have seen from Wells Fargo (getting my friendly daily jab in). :D

There really are some nice looking office buildings out here (even the squatty 2 story ones).

I want to do more Photo Shoots like I did this summer, but it is dark when I get off from work!

i drive by that everyday and see more and more glass everyday. thank goodness, im heading east in the morning instead of in the evening.

Josh, you'll want to go by there when there's a nice colorful sunset, and then position yourself somewhere halfway between each of Mark's two vantage points... the reflection is BEEAUtiful.

I practically did cartwheels back in January, driving along West Dodge, and seeing this new building going up. First off, Omaha finally has a suburban building with a truly glimmering, curved-glass facade. Second, the glass is such a soothing, pretty blue color. I am so thankful for whoever sold those Boys Town cornfields north of Dodge, and ordered good architecture to be built there. Nowadays, Omaha makes sure all its new buildings are high quality design -- something I am so thankful for.

^ I like those new pics. It is a very sharp building. The color of the glass reminds me of the icy blue tones I saw on shimmering Lake Tahoe last month.

Initially, I would think that I would like the west side of the building best, with the largest parabolic curve. But, I actually like the variety of the east side. It has a little of everything. I'm loving the chaotic, sporadic display of metallic, vertical lines in the bands of rectangular windows. Architecturally, that kind of no-rhyme-or-reason ornament is so in-style right now.

I love this building, too bad it isn't taller and downtown like someone else mentioned earlier. Nevertheless, this is a great addition to the thriving business center that is 132nd to 144th and Dodge. After years of sitting empty, it is great to see that Bank of the West Business Park is almost full. Hard to believe that only 3 years ago this entire half square mile business park was completely empty, minus a few restaurants.

That sign is really classy too, I like it. Much more fitting than the sign on new building down the street...

Looking at it closer, I'm guessing the backside of the building is the west side (with the huge curve)? Initially, I thought that was the front. But, with the logo, and the variety of textures, patterns, and materials, the "face" of the building is probably the most celebrated east side.

at about the middle of the curve in brads first pic above they put on that square logo and C&A over the glass. i'd prefer no logo, but its relatively small.

Staffing firm aims to add 300 to 400 jobs

As staffing firm C&A Industries Inc. settles into its new west Omaha headquarters this month, it also is feverishly working to fill the building.

The company plans to add 300 to 400 new positions in the next three to four years, said Larry Courtnage, founder and joint chief executive.

Of that number, he said C&A plans to hire 150 in the next 18 months — quicker if possible.
