To me it’s becoming more and more apparent. College football is all about money first and foremost. A lot of the top players skip the bowl games now because it might hurt draft stock.

The main thing I hate about college football is the production/length of game, and some of the rules. College games sometimes reach 4 hours. They stop play way too often, too many reviews, clock stops automatically on a first down, halftime is like 30 minutes long. Then there's the rules. I hate the targeting rule. Just make it a personal foul and move on. I hate that they only need 1 foot in bounds to make a catch. Pass interference is a 15 yard penalty, not a spot foul. Don't even get me started on overtime. Transfer portal allows players to bail at will. At least in the pros they have contracts to keep players around more than a few months.

If it doesn't have to do with the huskers, I'm probably not watching. God forbid Alabama knocks off Michigan and goes on to win another back door championship. I might watch the Michigan- Alabama game just because I want to see Alabama get knocked out.

Six B1G Bowl Games Between Now and Monday!

Six Big 10 Bowl teams are in action between now and Monday and the Big 10 is already off to a 3-0 start. Ryan Day and his Ohio State Buckeyes take on the Missouri Tigers in today's Cotton Bowl. Expect Day to keep an eye on the future with his quarterbacks in this game. Tomorrow Ole Miss and Penn State battle in the Peach Bowl. Both teams are very good, yet neither can break through the glass ceiling in their respective conferences. The Maryland Terps look for their 8th win of the season when they play the Auburn Tigers in the Music City Bowl.

Monday, New Year's Day, features a Big 10 triple header. First, Luke Fickell and his Wisconsin Badgers face a battle-tested LSU Tigers team in the Reliaquest Bowl. Heisman winning quarterback Jayden Daniels will not play in this one. The Tennessee Vols will get to see what the Iowa Hawkeyes are all about in the Citrus Bowl. And Finally, the Grand Daddy of them all, The Rose Bowl features the Alabama Crimson Tide and the number one Michigan Wolverines with a trip to a college football national championship game on the line. We preview all of it here, plus we have our Pigskin Picks on Locked on Big 10 with Craig Shemon.

The Big 10 Show

Adam Carriker and Tom Hannifan breakdown bowl games and the college football playoffs on The Big 10 Show and talk about opting out .

The duo break down the slate of bowl games and how the bowl game layout has changed over the years with the multitude of players opting out, moving in the transfer portal and the bowl playoffs.

Jim Harbaugh Big Rose Bowl Moment;
Hires NFL Agent;
Buckeyes Bad Week

Jim Harbaugh may be on the verge of his best moment as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines if he beats Nick Saban and Alabama in the Rose Bowl. That would mean an appearance in next week's national championship vs the winner of the Texas Longhorns and the Washington Huskies in the other college football playoff in the Sugar Bowl.

Warning to Michigan fan: Enjoy this moment. In another sign Harbaugh may be bolting for the NFL, he just signed NFL agent Don Yee. Yee handles Tom Brady and Sean Payton, among others. It feels like Harbaugh is gone. Meanwhile, we've had two days to digest the Ohio State Buckeyes debacle in the Cotton Bowl vs the Missouri Tigers. Our feeling is Ryan Day better find a transfer portal quarterback ASAP? Do to agree? Plus, we have our Top 10 Big 10 observations from the past week and we'd like to see if you agree with our list. All that and more is here on Locked on Big 10 with Craig Shemon. Happy New Year!

while i'm no fan of Michigan, and it wouldn't have been horrible to see Saban in there, I'm at least relieved it wasn't Alabama and/or Texas (especially Texas...F them). The narrative would have been exhausting. "Rematch" this and "Former power house" that. Now, if Washington can pull off the W, all 3 teams I don't like would end up losing, which is almost as good as Nebraska making it to a bowl :)

This playoff has been the first in years I've actually watched. I've grown extremely tired of the Alabama narrative, so though I'm no Michigan fan, I was pretty fired up to watch that game and I'm happy with the outcome.

I'm rooting for Washington cause I like the Michael Penix Jr. story, and he's killing it.

Wouldn't. And only because I respect what he's done as a coach, even if I'm really sick of Alabama. I figure the guy has only a few years left before he has to think about retirement (he's 72 already) so if he DID get in, I wouldn't hate it as much as if Texas made it, and he could get a crack at one last national title.

In the end, I think Harbaugh is a cheater, and hope Washington wipes the floor with them for this reason alone. At least Saban is respectable, even though I don't like Alabama either.

Edit: I didn't mean to include the "/or" in the original post. I see where that made it confusing...but chalk it up to lazy brain from bein off during the holidays :)

Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh plans to interview with the Los Angeles Chargers for their head coaching position this week. Harbaugh has a 10-year, nine figure contract extension waiting for him at Michigan but many believe if the Chargers offer him their job he will take it. And Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy was one of several Wolverines to announce this weekend they are heading into the NFL draft. These announcements were made hours after the team celebrated its national championship with a parade in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I wouldn't think if Harbaugh goes to LA that they would use a draft pick on McCarthy. Justin Herbert is solid and they're paying him big. McCarthy would just sit on the bench for 4+ years, and I don't think either side would be looking for that and LA wouldn't use their first pick on him if he's available.

I think the insinuation here is that with all his players leaving for the NFL including star QB, it’s more likely he’d leave for the NFL himself, not that they would draft McCarthey when they already have Herbert

Is Big 10 - SEC Advisory Group Step Closer to Super Conference?
Caitlin Clark, Zach Edey Dominate

The Big 10 and the SEC are forming a joint advisory board which will seek the best business path forward while ignoring input from the NCAA. We think this is the first step in the two major conferences creating a Super Conference and the beginning of the end for the NCAA as we know it. This is a DEVELOPING STORY and one we are very interested in.
———
In hoops Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark and Purdue center Zach Edey continue to fill stat sheets as their respective teams continue to win. The #2 Boilermaker win came on the road at #6 Wisconsin. Purdue now has sole possession of first place in the men's Big 10 race.
———
Speaking of Wisconsin, add former football coach Paul Chryst to the list of reported candidates for the newly opened Boston College coaching gig.
