The Huskers rallied from a 17-point first-half deficit to five in the later stages of the first half and had opportunities to close the Buffalo lead in the second half, but were unable to complete the comeback Bandoumel had 10 of his 14 points in the second half, while Juwan Gary and Sam Griesel had 11 and 10 points, respectively for the Huskers. In all, the Huskers held CU, which won 21 games and finished fourth in the Pac-12 last season, to 43.3 percent shooting, but shot just 41 percent, including 6-of-25 from 3-point range.

The start and all those points in the paint seemed too much to overcome. From what I have seen Colorado is projected to make the NCAA's this year so I am glad we played someone of their caliber coming off Chadron State.

Derrick Walker misses game for "healthcare reasons." Ravi Lula on 1620 this morning on Gary Sharp's show speculated it could be mental health.

Huskers face UNO tonight at PBA in Lincoln. I really hope this becomes an annual game. Big deal for UNO, as a hockey season ticket holder I got an offer from the UNO alumni association for $10 tickets that included a reception and appetizers with a cash bar at the nearby Hilton Garden Inn. Couldn't go but hopefully they got a good turnout. Very happy to see Trev and Fred schedule this as a regular season game:

CJ Wilcher scored a career-high 21 points to lead three Huskers in double figures, as Nebraska led wire-to-wire in a 75-61 win over Omaha Thursday night. Wilcher hit 8-of-12 shots from the field, including four 3-pointers, as Nebraska shot 50 percent and forced 16 Omaha turnovers. Wilcher's 21 points topped his previous best of 17 against Auburn last December, and marked the second 20-point effort by a Husker in as many games.

I really hope Nebraska starts playing UNO every year. Actually would love to see Nebraska, Creighton and UNO all play each other once every season. Obviously UNO is game it’s the other 2 that hesitate. If This can’t happen I wouldn’t mind NU playing Creighton and UNO on a every other year rotation then adding more former Big 8 schools. Would also like to see Nebraska try a home and home series with Wichita State.

This ranking is totally laughable at this time. Grambling St is listed as #1, granted they did beat Colorado who then went on to beat TN.

Yeah I wasn’t taking that seriously. If you read the article it mentioned Nebraska has jumped up almost 80 spots in the latest one. Actually pre and early season polls are pretty worthless.

Husker Halftime Lead Collapses in Loss at St. John’s
Red Storm romps after intermission for 70-50 win over Nebraska

After beginning with two home victories, Nebraska men’s basketball gave fans some hope in the early part of the season. The Huskers offered a bit more in a rough-and-tumble first half at St. John’s, after which the Huskers led 27-20. For Nebraska’s sake, hopefully the remainder of this 2022-23 season will go better than the second half went Thursday night, as NU allowed 50 points to the Red Storm after the break in a 70-50 loss in Queens, New York.

Great read from Dirk Chatelain. From the article:

In Hoiberg’s fourth season, what is their true identity? Are they the team we saw in the first half at St. John’s and the second half against Arkansas Pine-Bluff? Or the team that played the second half at St. John’s and the first half against Pine Bluff?

Just watched incredible game between #3 Kansas and Wisconsin. Wisconsin lost with .2 seconds left in OT. If Wisconsin really is the 9 best team in the Big 10 as the preseason polls suggest, the league will be even more difficult than ever.

That being said. I think they finish higher based on what I just saw. Wahl for Wisconsin looked better than anyone I have seen so far this year.
