Story there?
I believe, if I remember right, Gray was a deciding no vote on CVS being built there on the city council. Then a week later he magically became a yes vote.

I also don't see the problem with that CVS there. It has a fairly small lot, and serves the area nicely...

I don't think it's so much about having a CVS in the area as it is about what was demolished to put it there.

The 49’r bar, which was in one of the older buildings in the neighborhood from the streetcar days. I think another building went too. And now it’s a car oriented CVS.

Looked it up. From the outside, it could have used some work but it was decent stock.

But really, we just need to tear out Dodge so badly and make it more useful.

49r was a great dive bar replaced by just a garbage development for that neighborhood

I think that's a little unfair for the development. Its right on Dodge, and Dodge has stripped so much from the area. The CVS actually fits the area just fine.

The problem is Dodge needs major work to bring back the types of developments Dodge had historically, and that I'd love to see make a comeback as well.

I dunno, I mean no matter what could be built anew here to improve the visuals on this strip, it ain't gonna be as cool or full of character as buildings like these:

I have no issue with that statement.

I just don't think its accurate to say whats there now is "out of character" or some disaster all on its own. Decades of carving up Dodge to make room for more cars caused less than ideal infill of which that CVS is a symptom of the disease we call auto-oriented development".

I used to live right across from 49r, it really sucked when it was torn down. Also I’m not sure how Dodge stripping so much from the area is an excuse for the CVS tearing down old buildings to build there.

Because we tend to, and generally should build for what the rest of our built environment needs.

A highway through the heart of the city replacing transit: This is, both predictably and empirically, the outcome.

Maybe with time we can see the ORBT and even more better transit reverse some of these, at least as much as it can.

There was the threat, if you want to call it that, if CVS didn't get to build here they wouldn't move forward with the one on 72nd and Maple which obviously never actually happened.

I was told CVS stopped 72nd and Maple because of 90th and Blondo.

Well they’re both not happening/in business anymore!

It closed up during the pandemic and has been for lease for some time.

It's a decent sized lease too. 4000 sq/ft from memory.
