Ranking the Top 25 college football coaches:
Norvell, Kiffin rising in Bruce Feldman’s list

18. Matt Rhule, Nebraska (2023: No. 15)
It was a shaky first season in Lincoln, but in fairness to Rhule, it’s been really shaky there for a long while. The 49-year-old Rhule knows how to get things turned around. His 5-7 debut wasn’t disastrous, and he’s had some big recruiting wins already, especially landing quarterback Dylan Raiola. Rhule’s overall college record (52-50) isn’t jaw-dropping, but stretches of his season-by-season record are. At Temple, he went 2-10 in Year 1 and won 10 games two years later. He went 1-11 in Year 1 at Baylor. Two years later: 11-3.

Dylan Raiola Going to Work for Nebraska Huskers Matt Rhule

Quarterback Dylan Raiola and Nebraska Football coach Matt Rhule are quietly working together to lift the Huskers toward the top of the Big 10 in 2024. Rhule isn't ready to name his 5-star freshman the starter just yet, though. He wants him to get his feet wet and learn how to be a college student first. But Raiola is working behind the scenes doing everything he can to help this Nebraska football team as much as he can. We will get our first look at Raiola in the Huskers Spring Game on April 27.

Where do Nebraska, Matt Rhule go from here?
Cornhusker's Leadership Amidst AD Search in Lincoln

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are in a weird position coming back from Spring Break. The Athletic Director bolted for Texas A&M, and it seems as if Matt Rhule is taking on the leadership for the time being. Where do things stand at Nebraska with stadium renovations, a revamped football program, and both basketball programs in the NCAA Tournament? Sean Callahan from Huskers Online joins to discuss the state of affairs and just what is going on in Lincoln, Nebraska

Still can’t believe Alberts left. I think the university took him for granted because he was an alum. They probably thought he would never leave. The athletic department’s been cursed for a while now, except for the volleyball team.

This is basically what I’m thinking it came down to. Not so much the political stuff but just them taking him for granted, not listening to him like wanted and generally just not getting stuff done that needed to be done. I also he might have been genuinely concerned about the university getting booted from the Big 10 and he didn’t want to get left holding that bag.

I am not as sure on that. They just gave him a raise that put him in the top 10 ad's by pay in the country. And it had escalators that would keep him there if others moved past him.

Those things can still be possible even though you’re getting paid. At any rate, we’ll probably never know because he probably will never talk about it.

Husker Doc Talk Podcast :
Our Second Interview With Bill Busch

Travis and Rob are podcasting! This time it's coach Bill Busch. You may remember him from his time as the defensive coordinator at Nebraska, but he also had stops at LSU, Wisconsin, the University of Utah, Utah State, Rutgers, New Mexico State, and Northern Arizona. Bill's coaching career is undeniable, but lately he's been on the public speaking circuit, and comes HIGHLY recommended.
