Just a reminder a few weeks late - to keep the correct time you need to compensate for daylights savings time again by going to your profile and changing the GMT from -6 to -5.

We are sorry about the inconvenience of the forum being down yesterday. I did not see the error until this morning - having been away from the desk this weekend. So please post away again! Let us know what is going on around town.

Again we are sorry for the inconvenience of the forum being down. I believe it happened around noon today and was back up at 6. Something happened to our host's network:
eOmahaForum's Host wrote:Network issue affecting websites and e-mail
We are currently experiencing a network issue that may be affecting your website and e-mail. Our Network Operations team is currently working to diagnose the cause and restore full service as quickly as possible. We will update this alert with more information as it becomes available.
I have yet to hear any updates.

eOmahaForum's Host wrote:UPDATE 8:30 PM EDT - Network issue affecting websites and e-mail has been resolved
We experienced a routing issue with one of our core switches today.

Our Network Operations team worked to identify and remedy the issue as rapidly as possible, but given the size of our network it took longer than we would have liked for us to pinpoint the source of the issue, and correct it.

We deeply regret any impact that this may have had on your website or e-mail, and will be undertaking an extensive review to determine ways to improve our network reliability in the future.

Again we apologize for the site being down last night. Our host was having 'issues with our core router.' All seems to be well now.

I'm still having trouble getting in by simply typing in "eomahaforums.com". I had to search for the site in google, go to a page other than the home page (or else it says 'page cannot be displayed'), then click on a user, go to all the posts they've made and click on the section to read the topics. I use internet explorer, but i used to use firefox and I'm thinking about flipping back. Anyone have any other ideas on how i can resolve this so i don't have to go to such lengths to get in here? Sure it's a means-to-an-end for me to get my fix, but it's a huge pain in the |expletive| nonetheless.

Deleting the site's cookies seems to work for me. As a web developer, I don't have a clue how my cookies all of a sudden "go bad", but it's the only solution that I know of at this point.

Does anyone else ever experience all the text you have typed just up and disappearing when you add an Emoticon after typing everything. The cursor for the emoticon is after the text added. I know that for sure. This has happened to me many times, and just happened again on a reply post I did in the parallel parking thread. It has happened on more than on computer too. It seems to be random to some extent. The only consistency is that I am using IE on all the PC's.

This all started after the Spell Checker was added. I have found that it does appear to be random.

I learned some of the code for the popular emoticons otherwise I just copy the text before I add the emoticon then I can just paste it back.

is there any way to disable the spell check upon clicking submit? I know you can disable as you type, but is there any way to avoid the final check?

I keep getting an error that will not allow me to post anything that has a non-recognized word....

Shut it off in your profile. They yellow will stay on, but the final check will shut off.

Why do we even have it? It doesn't help anything. We're not writing a thesis and it's more trouble than it's worth so lets can it.

I love it. It works awesome for me with just the yellow boxes and the pop up turned off.

Before I would have to cut and paste my posts in to word and then back in to the forum...

We don't care that you can't spell or have bad grahmer Brad. :)

The site already has problems with the deleting cookies thing so I think it would make the site more user friendly to do away with it.

Then why have you tossed |expletive| my way on spelling in a post or two?

I'd pay to see the reaction from the neighbors as he drug his wife along the ground by her shirt collar because he couldn't spell the street name that all his bills, cards, checks, etc, had on them.

...or do you think the dispatcher could tell he was a 'neck and probably couldn't spell it in the first place? Like some sort of self gratification by knowing how to spell it, and the caller didn't? :)
