That picture does not look nine stories. I would have said seven at most.

I think you did not notice the taller section of the expansion near the back of the photo. I was confused as well as the 'main attraction' is the long green glass mid-rise structure.

You are exactly correct. Because of the angle in Dodge, and the curves of the building, it's harder for me to picture what is already there and what is new. I went back to the picture at the top of the page and saw where the nine story building would be. Louie is correct, massive!

Yeah, I had to go back to the older OWH articles to see what the actual additions were going to be because I just wasn't seeing the 9-story addition the article talked about. I am just glad that it is actually being built. Between UNMC and Children's, Omaha's growing medical service industry has brought some of the more impressive building projects in the last 5-10 years.

Yeah there is a whole other part of the project facing West Dodge Rd that isn't in this picture. The part pictured is basically just the new parking garage.

This will be massive and should completely change the look of that part of Dodge.

There also will be a sky bridge spanning from the gold HDR building to the hospital. Should be built over the next year.

Second tower crane base is in. It’s on the north side of the pie shaped piece of the building, between the building and Dodge Street. If feels like it’s almost on top of Dodge Street.

So is the really tall one one of the new ones, or did they just add sections to it?

Nevermind, I answered my own question using the photo above.

The tall one is TALL, dern near 300 feet it looks like. Kinda surprising. I wonder why it is so tall. I didn't think this building was going to be that high.

It does look really tall, I don’t recall seeing a tower crane in suburban Omaha this tall before.

This looks taller for some reason, it’s gotta be at least 250 ft . Hate to be driving next to it during a thunderstorm with high winds.

I think that one is taller so the cranes can swivel through each other's arcs without collisions. Just a guess.

Oh gosh, that's really further along than I expected. Thanks for the aerial.

Although I'm kinda bummed the double buildings featuring sweeping curves and turquoise glass are going to be partly shrouded, I'm glad to see more density there. And, that flat, triangular grassy lawn right along Dodge was kinda odd, as you knew it was awaiting a new building eventually. I also never cared for that concrete divider along the lawn with the wiggly curves, that was meant to be a themed design statement, but I don't think it ever 100% worked. I'm glad that is getting covered.
I can get pushed out because I'm "too much" for some. Then, an observer of me comes suddenly swooping in to "fill my shoes." People are always more accepting of the new one, because their feathers aren't truly ruffled by them. (Yawn) I can count on it every time.

I drove by around 1am earlier today and they had 84th street closed, looked like they were working overnight to put in the skybridge.

84th was closed all weekend. I was at the hospital on Sat and Sunday visiting and from the room I was at they were working on the overpass all day, both days. They were working on the building too on Sat but not on Sunday/

It does have an outstanding presence along West Dodge. Not sure how I feel about the majority of the presence being parking garage, but at least they made a really good effort to make it look good. It is what it is. I can't wait to see how this thing feels when its complete.

ps. the best view of this site is from Roberts Park. If you somehow get to 78th and Izard and take the trail into the park, you'll see what I mean.

That's probably going to be full floors, they just haven't put up the rest of the steel yet.

No it looks like it is going to be a stairwell to the top floor for the helipad.

I agree that’s probably the stairwell for the helipad, but if you compare the rendering vs the recent pictures, it appears the current steel is level with the existing building while the rendering indicates at least another couple of full floors are yet to be added.
