MSU's pass defense is currently 116th against a schedule similar-ish to ours, I feel pretty good about not even needing that.nebport5 wrote: Fri Oct 03, 2025 11:27 amOr if they can’t protect Raiola for |expletive| again. Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
I’m not under the impression that they have a good defense, but after two weeks ago I’d expect opposing defenses the rest of the year to blitz Raiola like crazy. So it’s rather the pass rush the Husker O-line needs to show they can stop vs. lesser competition or they could be in real trouble against better Big10 teams. And furthermore, if it comes to this I’d rather see Lateef in there because it’s already clear he can use his feet to get out of the pocket and make something of a busted play instead of just taking another sack.Louie wrote: Fri Oct 03, 2025 11:59 amMSU's pass defense is currently 116th against a schedule similar-ish to ours, I feel pretty good about not even needing that.nebport5 wrote: Fri Oct 03, 2025 11:27 amOr if they can’t protect Raiola for |expletive| again. Start of the 2nd quarter, Nebraska's up 14-0. They're playing pretty good defense. Now why could they do that against Michigan 2 weeks ago?

Not feeling real comfy. Despite a blocked punt TD, an interception, and multiple field flips, only to be up by one possession... I have faith, but they're not making it easy.

Yikes, thats a momentum flip if I ever felt one. Still tied, but it feels like Michigan State is beginning to open it up.

Nebraska should be leading by more. MUCH more. If this was a bigger game, I might be able to understand why Nebraska's struggling.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
It sure wasnt pretty. I actually opted to take a nap on the couch after they got that pick and subsequent touchdown, because I didn't care to see 'it" happen again. Much to my surprise and pleasure, I woke up to a 38-21 Husker lead.
But yeah, what I saw was U G L Y. That ain't gonna hold up all year, even with the soft schedule.

Was a rough look yesterday. I will say as others have, in yeas since Pelini, it felt like we lost these games. Every. Single. One.
That being said, was so much worse for Penn State and Texas.
The win in KC over Cincinnati continues to look better and better.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
It really does. Hadn't looked at it until now, but Cincinnati is doing pretty well for themselves. They have double the votes of Nebraska at the moment. That also .makes the Michigan loss sting a bit more. As I said before, that should have been a win. They plssed that one away.Greg S wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 12:39 pm The win in KC over Cincinnati continues to look better and better.
Coulda woulda shoulda been 5-0. I dont care if they win ugly from here on out. 11 point wins are 11 point wins, and 11-1 is still on the table with what Id say is probably the easiest schedule that I can even remember.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
Yeah, I'll watch the games as much as any other average Nebraskan, but I'm quite hesitant to exclaim that "Nebraska's back!" Even if they steal a 10-2 season this year, it's not like they will have faced anybody of consequence. There's still a LOT of room to grow before NU football is a national contender. It's too bad, too; with Raiola's QB talent, without a solid O-line to protect him it feels almost wasted. And, frankly, I would be willing to bet a frosty beverage that Millard South could score a touchdown vs the defense if all they did was run the ball every play.

Yeah, at this point in the season, I can honestly say if they can go 9-3 this season (which should be the expectation now), looking at how easy the schedule is, a 9-3 finish probably feels more like a 6-6 team any other year.almighty_tuna wrote: Wed Oct 08, 2025 3:30 pm "Nebraska's back!" No Wisconsin, no Ohio State, Michigan a bit down. We'll have to see how it turns out.
I just HOPE the Skers are at least 8-3 going into the Iowa game. That to me is the only real "prove it" game left

What have ye? Apparently the consensus is that Maryland will be tougher than Michigan State, as the spread is only 6.5 today. Nebraska seems to have e the upper hand statistically on offense at least. Other than that, I'll take another shot in the dark.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
Drinking the kool-aid this morning, and I'll knock on wood after saying this, but I think the Skers have a good chance of being ranked in the next couple weeks. I say with the caveat that if they do earn it, it'd be the first earned ranking (i.e not an early season token ranking) since 2016.
Also of note, if you look back at the history of their rankings, ever since the good old days (I'll say post Eric Crouch) every time they've finished the season ranked, its generally always been 20-ish - 25. I'm a little bit optimistic that they at least stand a fair chance at finishing the season ranked.

Nobody here with me to hear me say it, but I literally said out loud, "I feel an interception coming" before they were even set. I hate it when I'm right lol.

Game's over. Nebraska won 34-31. That was too close for comfort. Pretty ugly. But at least they got the job done.

Re: Nebraska Football 2025-2026
The announcer just referred to Nebraska as a playoff darkhorse. I suppose IF they can go 11-1 with that schedule, I dunno, I guess they could sneak in as an at large. If they eek out a win every one of the next six weeks, I dont really see them as a good team. If they clean up and get convincing wins, then maybe.

I thought that after three, the Terps would pull away. Glad I was wrong, but Dylan has to clean up those INTs. Nine times out of ten, throwing while falling will get you a ruptured duck pick-6.

I'll give him credit, I don't remember the last QB we had on pace for 32 touchdowns. I get frustrated on some of his throws when he gets too creative, just like Mahomes does (big surprise there), but I think his play style does well to open up the run game, despite his sometimes getting too cute.damonhynes wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 6:32 pmI thought that after three, the Terps would pull away. In the span of 24 hours, I’ve seen 2 dramatic, nerve wracking wins. Last night, it was the Mariners in 15 innings. Today, it was Nebraska scoring a last-minute touchdown and holding on to win. That’s a lot to take in.

The remaining games on Nebraska’s schedule is the most difficult part of its season. Thinking 7-5 maybe 8-4.

Interestingly, I think this team is significantly better than last year's team, but we could still easily end up with the same record of 7-6 after the bowl game. Would be nice to break into 9+ wins tho.Cermak wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 11:11 pm The remaining games on Nebraska’s schedule is the most difficult part of its season. Thinking 7-5 maybe 8-4.

I think next week at Minnesota on a Friday night will be a pretty important pendulum swing game. Win and that may build momentum and confidence to really close out strong. Stumble and lose, well, you know what happens. Probably will be a tough game.
Should be 3 new teams in the top 25 this week, 3 out. Which means Nebraska should be 26th if theres no bias. So, next man up!
